Any thoughts on this? The new Mumble without having to buy servers? I'm interested in seeing what you guys (or gals) think. I'll try it myself later.

I'm screwing around with it now, click a game on it's list and it launches THROUGH Steam, which initially is quite creepy but quite awesome at the same time.

Haven't tested audio quality yet, I haven't got anyone to yell at talk to.

I'm mainly curious how the latency will be, also how resource intensive is it?

"Server-based infrastructure prevents exposure of personal IP address" l8r bape

But yeah that overlay looks like butts, takes up a huge amount of space. Wonder if the quality is any good though.

also doesn't mumble protect your IP as well? as far as I know it's not exposed unless you are an admin on the server or something.

they are advertising that because there has been a big problem in dota2 lately with games being ddos'd, which is caused by the fact that skype is the main method of communication in dota and skype is also a piece o shit that lets people get your IP with ease

dota players (even the non-sponsored ones) use raidcall as well. it is cute as hell.

looks like you can choose to give razor your email and other personal information in exchange for a free server and bloated software / overlay.

or pay 2 dollars a month for a mumble server and keep your personal information to yourself.

Although any new software that comes out and is marketing to "gamers" will undoubtedly bring new advertising money into differing competitive scenes so that's nice.

Does Razer have a history of mass identity theft? I think I'm missing something.

I'm sitting in the channel Kinch made, would be interesting to get someone else in here and do some quality tests and stuff. If this is on-par with mumble it could be useful.

Half of you own razer products that you bought using personal information you submitted through their site or Newegg. Quit whining and take your free shit and be happy with it.

Gee, I wish I had a free deathadder if I bought one. Also maybe because we...you know...have to give info in order for newegg to ship the item to us and clarify if it's a legit credit card info?
Anyways razer comms seems silly a bit, I think there needs to be less division and since many dota players use raidcall/skype, adding razer comms is just adding more to the list. It's nice and free though, which is good.

The point is they already have your personal information on record if you have purchased from them. People complaining about having to give their email to sign up for it is laughable.

The real issue here is latency and the overlay, if you were really worried about emails and such you could just create a new email for the account. That said, has anyone actually tried using it? I am on Linux so I can't test, but it would still be interesting to see how it performs quality and latency wise, because they are the real defining factors that determine its usefulness.
