NOT SURE WHY IT RENDERED OUT 2 MIN. EXTRA, BUT JUST IGNORE THAT FOR NOW

Hey guys.
This is a preview for my new TF2 Frag movie that I am making. The final video will be posted to my personal channel(http://www.youtube.com/user/BubbaTF2), so subscribe there to see the final product! Some things I am aware about, and need feedback for:
-I am adding little popup name pieces laters for each player featured, but I have not gotten their yet. The players in this are: crossfire, clutch, dingo, captin, showstopper, delpo, and redban

Would like opinions on fonts, color correction, and transitions, and A NAME FOR THE MOVIE!
If you make a comment on the intro for example, please give me more ideas. I thought the intro was pretty cool, but I would be more than happy to change, feel free to tell me some ideas.

Also, I have one to two more clips to edit, but I really need more clips, please leave them in the comments, along with feedback on the preview.

Thanks!!

ok, first off, there were no smooths, it was basically a frag show, your movie had two minutes left because you left the audio on in vegas, you needed to cut it, dont be afraid to use simple fades sometimes instead of linear wipes and irises. Your colors were actually pretty good though, the video quality could have been better, your syncs were off a tad, make sure to get syncs right by playing it over and over again until you are 100 percent sure that its synced. just my two cents.

I havn't had much experience with smooths, or really knowing where to put them. The audio, I kinda forgot to cut out, since i will add more clips as I get them. as for syncs, I thought I almost had it, but ill keep looking at it.
Thanks!!

The intro is not good at all. Please make another, it gives a poor first impression on what the video will be like.

The pacing for the first two clips doesn't really match the song. For the second solly clip, you should not only add blur but also maybe brighten the whole video when you're fastforwarding. The song change at 0:37 should trigger slow motion for the airshot.

There's minimal syncing, or if there is it isn't really noticable whatsoever. The lack of in-game audio is also very disconcerting and takes away from the experience.

In general the whole thing looked like you kind of put clips together and music ontop of it. You don't want the audience to feel that way. Music evokes emotion, and your video should take advantage of the emotions your audience is feeling. Syncing is extremely time-consuming but absolutely fantastic and it WILL make the video considerably better.

Also, if you're using Vegas please don't forget to use lock to stretch when dealing with slowmo. Otherwise it'll sound like cancer.

I hope I'm not coming off as rude :P

RawrSpoonThe intro is not good at all. Please make another, it gives a poor first impression on what the video will be like.

I need some ideas, I was think of maybe a smooth flying over mid, or a huge overview of ac couple mid fights?

uhhh the reason I picked the song is so it would drop right as the demo hits the first sticky, but after that, yes, there is not much syncing done, except for the airshot. I will definitely brighten the fast forward.

RawrSpoonThere's minimal syncing, or if there is it isn't really noticable whatsoever. The lack of in-game audio is also very disconcerting and takes away from the experience.

It is only the intro clip and the airshots, but my other problem is I couldn't find any good drops or beats throughout the song to match it with the frags. Ill keep looking

Not really sure how I would change it, maybe it's just cause im slightly in experienced with editing in the whole. And again, I will definitely work on syncing.[/quote]

thanks

when you are at the point where you want to end the movie press O (if you are using vegas) and it will only render to that point.
I is in point where you start rendering, and O is outpoint where you stop rendering.

That way if you add more to your movie later you wont have to re add the previous audio.

Yah, that was used in the ESEA S13(?) Highlights vid. Another thing I noticed aside from everything above is that you didn't correct your STV footage. It's more time-consuming, but if you want a quality product you have to put it in.

What you want to do is lower viewmodel_fov_demo down to 54, and then go back and re-record it with the GreenScreenHUD (google it), and change the deathnotice colours in hudlayout.res. Son of Dad has done a whole tutorial series on movie-making, and I definitely recommend checking them out as they teach everything you need to get to at least an average level (everything beyond is your own creativity and familiarity with software).

Here's the tutorial series:

Also I want to add onto what was said about going with emotion and your intro. The post-piano intro section of the song is pretty clearly just that, an intro, so it should be used like that. Basically what you have there is the most suspense-creating moment of the song being used to do something completely different. You should use that section as a buildup to the opening frags, generally through a series of smooths to set the scene for the viewer. Watch any video by decap or subtitled and you'll see what I mean.

Basically the emotion of the song dictates every single thing about the video. Determines colours, determines pacing, determines any speedups/slowdowns, determines how quickly you cut the clips together, everything. Laurence is a very fast-paced and energetic song, so leaving in chunks of downtime, and frags that just drag on, just won't work. You want to either pick a song you can easily work around, or reject any frag that you can't edit to fit the atmosphere created by it. Here's how it was done before:

Im pretty sure I dont have the demos anymore, as I recently cleaned out my TF folder. :/ Is it worth to just record the rest of the clips @ 54?

So either use fast forward, or dont use clips that are extremely long?

Thanks for the feedback, will try and implement as much as possible. :)
