Demostf plugin not uploading consistently on NFO

Hey, I have been trying to get the demos plugin to work on my NFO server but I can't seem to get it to upload consistently. It uploads maybe 1 in 10 games. Most of the time I get the cURL error coe 28 or 26. I have tried everything I can think of to fix it but I just can't seem to get it to work. I even contacted the developer Icewind and he said there is no issues on the server side. After being fed up I got a new server from a different host and literally copy pasted the files to that server and everything works fine. Then I noticed that my friends that use NFO servers also have the same issue.

TLDR; Demos plugin specifically doesnt work on NFO servers

Is there anyone here that uses NFO servers and gets the demos to upload everytime?

I have also been getting this problem. I was thinking of just reinstalling everything including demos.tf. Have you deleted your demos currently on your server, it might be full.

Curl Error 28 is a timeout. Demos.tf is hosted in Europe, NFO is an American server provider. You can see why there would be a time out issue. Of course though, if it were just a NA->EU problem, everyone getting their Chicago servers from NFO would have this same problem. Are you renting from a pop center like LA, by chance? (the timeout setting may be specifically formulated to accommodate midwest US since thats where most players play)

Our Chicago NFO uploads successfully maybe 50% of the time.

My NFO (Chicago) hasn't had issues in the past, nor do I think it would be if I tried now.

Maybe there is a setting, or could build a setting, that can set the time out to be a bit longer to accompany the time delay from NA->EU.

ive asked Icewind and it appears that the NA-EU upload speed shouldnt be an issue

edit: looking at some of the demos. it ranges from 20-70 mb
maybe the larger files are the ones that don't get uploaded

Try to do a 5 minute demo where you and a friend cap are the only ones in the server, and get a 5-0. See if that demo uploads. Then, compare that with a nights' scrim results, see if that uploads.

Come back to us with your findings.

Also, compare the demo sizes in the FTP and post that as well. I really don't think this is an issue with NFO nor demos.tf, but this information would be nice to help solve your case(s).

Demo upload for short demos
I've tested this by playing 5 2ish minute matches on Snakewater. Here is the console output for the uploading process
there was a 100% upload success uploading these short STV demos. The file size ranged from 1-5 MBs
Demo upload for longer demos
Looking at the logs.tf page (which has a perfect upload rate), FTP demo folder and, Demos.tf page.
The demos have a 2/5 upload success rate.
an oddity I noticed was that a 55 MB demo was uploaded but a 45 MB demo wasn't. A possible theory that the upload speed is inconsistent.
out of the matches that got uploaded the only 25 MB demo was uploaded successfully
I also tried an 8 MB demo and it uploaded successfully

TLDR: Small demos appear to upload consistently. While large ones struggle

interesting; I believe this is true in my case too. Most of our scrims/matches that are rolls get uploaded but the stalemate 30 minute games dont

The file size makes sense, most of the ones I see successful from our server are shorter duration scrims.

ok after asking icewind to extend the timeout limit everything seems to work fine. however, demos take longer to upload like 5-10 minutes long.... As far as I have tested it looks like it uploads fine

Here is the new plugin: https://github.com/demostf/plugin/blob/master/demostf.smx
