it goes on sale for $35 reasonably often. It is a great mouse, yes sometimes has cord issues but the MX518 had them too. It's really the connection of the cord to the circuit board inside the mouse, not the cord itself.

Also for the guy who plays at super low sensitivity, you should turn your dpi up and you won't get spazzing out. That's why they make the dpi selectable.... (also useful if you use high sens too).

It does? I used an MX518 for over 3 years (still use it at work) without the slightest hint of a cable problem

that's not true at all, the only thing high dpi does is fuck over your lift off distance.

Can someone recommend me a mouse with a similar shape/sensor to the death adder but with better build quality?
Zowie ec1 looks similar, has anyone used it?

I use the zowie am and the build quality is great and so is the sensor. (EC1 and zowie am use the same sensor)

EC1 is pretty similar to the DA, it's a little bit taller and a little bit longer.
Side buttons are a bit smaller and placed higher up than the DA's side buttons, the main buttons sit a bit higher than the DA's since they aren't as aggressively contoured as M1 and M2 on the DA.

Only issue I have with the EC1 is that the mouse feet are really thin so the bottom of the mouse scrapes my Goliathus Control, you can stack the extra feet that you get with the mouse if you have problems or you could get other feet for it.

You'll probably like it if you really like the DA's shape.

I have a g400 and it's pretty good but the wire is now messed up and every few hours or so it just stops working for a few seconds.

r4ptureI usually say the G400 is the best but even it has some problems. I play at ultra-low sens (raw mouse input, 400 dpi), and sometimes when I do a fast flick for a rocket jump it will spaz out. I don't know if its just my mouse or what but I don't know a better one offhand unfortunately.

I'd be open for suggestions of mice that work perfectly on quick movements on ultra-low sens.

You're probably just hitting the malfunction speed i.e. moving it too fast for the sensor to cope. Though that means you're moving it faster than 3.6m/s which is really damn quick.

I have deployed 50 G400s for work. I have RMAd 50 G400s for work. Even when the cord doesn't intermittently quit, the driver software is absolute trash. I've had to replace several of these mice due to drivers crashing constantly without any type of resolution to the problem. Logitech's support is a nuissance, but once I was able to get through and speak to someone, I was able to get all the mice exchanged for decent Logitech mice (non G-series as the gaming software is utter garbage).

I have used a Zowie AM and Zowie AM-GS. I liked these mice, but one of the side buttons quit working after only a month on the AM. I had to ship it back to Zowie which was unfavorable as it cost $7 to ship.

I've had a left handed DeathAdder that I've been using for around 2 years with no failures so far. The mousewheel on the DA is definitely a piece of junk when compared to most other mice, but I like the feel of the DA. I am biased because I use the mouse in my left hand and the DA is the *only* left handed mouse suitable for shooters like TF2 of which I am aware.

I've used the Roccat Kova+ as well. The wheel on that mouse is amazing, but the lift-off distance is a bit too exaggerated for my comfort. It felt like I had to lift it a full inch before it stopped registering. I'm sure I'm exaggerating and I've never actually measured it, but it was uncomfortable to me only because of that.

People need to make left handed mice, dammit.

I have been using my DA for over a year now, and I never had any problem with
the mousewheel, what's wrong with it ?
I'm actually amazed my DA is still working great even tho i play with
my hand covered in food every lunchtime.

Just yours, try plugging into a different usb port to reinstall the mouse drivers.

First things first, a 5-6 inch 360 is not a low sens, it's mid-high in fact. Just fyi :)

As for the mouse there's pretty much 3 choices.

1. Zowie EC1or2 eVo, black or white.

2. G400

3. New DA or older 1800 version which is pretty much extinct now.

If you're left handed there is the Zowie AM of lefty DA.

As for the EC1 or 2 choice, the 1 is the larger, 2 the smaller. They are almost identical in shape to the DA only the buttons are better situated all around.

The color choice is if you want slick gloss (white) or fussy felt (black).

Myself I have a 5.7 inch 360, I like cloth pads (Purtrak stealth) and I like the glossy white version because I don't lose grip on it like the black one. i also use the number 1 version (EC1 evo) because it's a bit wider than the DA, which had a good shape to begin with. The Zowie version is much better.

my friend said when he went to his friends house and used his g400 he really liked the feel of it over the DA. I'm not sure about zowie mice i'll go search them up but do you guys think the possibility of cable problems or driver problems is worth the risk when the g400 has this great reputation? I'm not sure but i have a lot of time to think.

Got a G500 Logitech and i enjoy it. Much better than the shitty Razer i had. (Not gonna buy Razer products anymore. I play on dumping my Blackwidow soon, to get a better keyboard and smaller too)

G400 is a little bit weird for my taste, I just love the feel of my deathadder and its almost perfect. It just grimes up really easily and the first one I got had an issue where the cord braid would "saw" itself on my wood desk edge back at home but luckily this one does not. But the razer cloud settings are actually really cool when you go to friends' houses and the mouse is really light, lighter than the 400. on top of that the dpi is really gud and i click people. the new software firmware allows you to even disable the logo when your monitor is off n shit.

@x3i4n #50 don't buy a blackwidow, it's a hunk of mechanical trash and you should look for better ones (ducky, mechanicalkeyboards.com, filco, daskeyboards, that CM one). Definitely true ricer, the only thing decent about it is the backlight.

one of the fortunate things about logitech mice is that if they break you can usually get them to ship you another one if you give them a serial. once upon a time they made you send screenshots of you destroying the product, but I think they've stopped even doing that. They've always just made shitty cords. Been like that since the mx510 days. a little heavy for my tastes.

some korean ebay store is selling kinzu v2s for $20 so I bought one in hopes that its sensor will be good enough for my sens while having that glorious wmo shape.

I started using an abyssus the day of the season I started invite, so I guess a around a year now. the angled sides just make it so much less comfy that the extremely prolonged flat edges of the wmo. pls -> http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/7029/1#post-99828

But I love my super indented sides, they make really good thumb/ring rests. using any other mouse now just feels kind of improper, like they never realized it would be a good design idea.

also you will never be this fuggin cool

kerrI really like my CM Storm Spawn. I have a pretty big hand and it has a good width and the shape is good for a claw grip.

I would advise against the spawn if you use windows 7. While it has the best shape ever, it's got a known issue with windows 7 (64 bit more than 32) that causes CPU lock down when using mumble, vent or team speak. They even tried to hush it up by moving the forums and leaving out a spawn forum, lol.

Sensor wise?

WMO/IMO/IME 3.0
Deathadder/Abyssus
Zowie EC/AM/FK

I've used a Deathadder and EC1 myself, both have great sensors, but they are too big and heavy IMO. I liked the sensor on the deathadder so I bought an abyssus, and am a lot happier with it (though it jitters on the puretrak but not on the goliathus speed).

juraculer4ptureI usually say the G400 is the best but even it has some problems.

I don't know how low your sens is but I have had this with all mice I've used, for me it's thus mouse-independent. I use around 43~cm/360? not superultra low but p low.

just get this when it comes out http://www.esreality.com/post/2173191/new-gaming-mouse-development/ the malfunction speed is so high that you'll never be able to hit it (hitting the malfunctions speed is what's causing your problem)
