Hey, I am a player in the AUS/NZ region. Obviously I can't play in these mixes but I was wondering if there will be any run in this region in the future?

Cheers

Praytell, who in newbie pugs wanted this? (Because I sure didn't) In all honesty, it makes everything feel stilted, the feel of an in-house pug is much better than that of #tf2mix or #tf2pug.na.

Just my feelings, so what was the push for this system, also if you plan to automate it, why limit it to certain days?

the channel and the bot are available every day of the week, they're just trying to advertise it on friday to get people in.

the push for the IRC is mostly because the existing pug systems for higher level play use IRC too and it's really simple and hassle free to automate it with a bot, most IRC clients are pretty user friendly.

For those who don't want to deal with the IRC or just want the good old-fashioned Newbie Mix experience, I'll be in the mumble on Saturday night to coordinate. Maybe Noona will be there too! I may also be in the Mumble on friday night to answer questions about IRC.

Some of us aren't very high level players of this game yet, but still LOVE the 6s experience. I don't know about you, but nothing but good could come from an added feature such as this one.

maybe you should try spending hours sitting in mumble organizing games while people constantly bitch and moan and talk over you. Not to mention the constant trolling.

We are currently in the final stages of testing everything for this IRC Bot which Cinq was so nice as to let us have.

We also hope that these DO become more frequent and as popular as #tf2mix.

Remember these PUGs are for the NEW players who don't want to wait till Saturday to play Newbie Mixes. These PUGs will not have coaches or captains, but can be scrambled, this way players can meet new people and hopefully eliminate stacked teams.

From a newbie, THANK YOU!

what a great way to encourage the newbs to get more game time under their belt.

Can we use a standalone IRC client to join these? My PC is wicked old and gets

a bit cranky running browsers, mumble and TF2.

Again, Thanks guys!

ToastyTHTPraytell, who in newbie pugs wanted this? (Because I sure didn't)

And your immaturity is the reason why your opinion is kindly ignored.

Mr_PerfectWe are currently in the final stages of testing everything for this IRC Bot which Cinq was so nice as to let us have.

I'm the one that wrote the bot, foo. Cinq hosts the bot on atf2.org and he provided the system that the bot uses and was based on.

EnemaMineCan we use a standalone IRC client to join these?

Yes. In fact, we strongly encourage you to do so!

http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/9442-changes-to-the-newbie-mixes

Newbies, if you can, please try to use the mibbit option or the option of a stand-alone irc client on your computer. This way, we do not get the atf2.org host g-lined and get everyone kicked out.

Another thing to remember, many newbies have troubling bridging the gap between newbie mixes to irc / #pug.na and this allows us to teach them how to take that step when they feel comfortable enough to switch to #tf2mix also making it so we no longer have to answer questions like "how do you use IRC" in mumble when a random wants to know how to get in to tf2mix

As a reminder, this event formally ends at 12:00 EST (9:00 PST), but we always end up continuing until later. Usually, mixes with coaches start to fade at around 10:00 PST and we transition to Newbie PUGs (basically the same, except without explicit coaches. The coaches themselves often stay and play, however). These go on late into the night, so if you can't play during the regular time slot, be sure to stop into the mumble or IRC channel, even if it's past 12:00/9:00. By late into the night, I mean Scoots and I were there until 5 AM one night. :3

So, you need one previous season of esea to be a coach? So I can't coach if it's my first season of ESEA, right?

DeathySo, you need one previous season of esea to be a coach? So I can't coach if it's my first season of ESEA, right?

Yes, you would need one full season of ESEA Open in order to coach. If you are playing in the current season, you would not be able to. Along with our one season requirement, you have to be approved by myself, or one of our trusted coaches, like Marxist.

Hope this answers your question
