Recently just finished End Zone by Don Delillo... It's prose captures the vibe of being in the desert playing football (which is basically what the book is if you want to reduce it to its most basic premise). I'd best describe it as a bunch of guys finding themselves. One character, Anton Goldberg, was compellingly written with his internalized antisemitism. Honestly, I thought more about him than the main character, Gary.
