FPS Glitch - Increases 4x when I hold tab

Hi,

I've recently noticed that after around 10 mins of playing my fps drops from ~400-500 to 120-170 but seems to go back to normal as long as I'm holding tab. I was curious if anybody else has had this issue and knows the solution.

Some extra info:
-Vsync is forced off in nvidia settings and is off in tf2. I have a 240hz (actually set to 240hz) monitor which would set vsync to 240 if this were the issue.

is this an MGE only thing? If it is then maybe the issue are the player score and health HUD elements that come with the MGE plug-in. Those are disabled when you tab

i get the same problem, and it's not just in mge, it happens in 6s on both pugs and serveme

I had similiar issue yesterday, my fps was stuck on 140ish. Fixed it by turning off gsync and putting my game in full screen. If that doesnt help id try fresh install and different HUD. Good luck gamer.

It occurred on both fps_max 0 and fps_max 481. I have a sneaking suspicion it's related to PVHuds class selection menu rendering a certain hud element. Will post my investigations so far when I get home from work.

Issue appears to have fixed itself however as I mentioned in my last comment I believe it may have to do with hud elements rendering in the background.

You can see in this video a steady decline in performance if I hold my mouse inbetween classes (for god knows what reason). The frames steadily decline and when the game goes to render that hud element again it continues dropping from where it was previously. Hud_reloadscheme doesn't fix the drops. Current theory is that when MGE forces you to switch to a certain class it may somehow trigger the class menu hud element but honestly I have no clue.

i had something similar happen at LAN during a cast. don't know if it was actually fixed but the game locked to 60 out of the scoreboard.

here's another video confirming it on another hud as far as the class selection goes. when the bounding box of the class element overlaps with another class and you hover in the shared area, it causes the issue (as you stated)

I wonder if the animation itself freezing up has anything to do with it; when you idle between two classes, the animation also doesn't play properly

edit: stacking them all on top of each other makes my fps a solid 20 lmao
