Anywho, I love mge oihguv. It's my favorite MGE map, period. So I decided to add Wari on steam to see if I could get the vmf/materials for it, and he said "sure here u go".

Thanks Wari!

After figuring out hammer enough to make some minor changes, I have decided to update and recompile oihguv. I will be maintaining it for the foreseeable future, and as I learn more of hammer, I will try to adjust it based on feedback I get.

Thank you to antimoon and `pants for the feedback so far!

b1 update???

Changed skybox to a modified version sky_skylab_01 (original credit to VelvetFistIronGlove) The version in b1 does not have the bright pink "galaxies" that the original skybox does, as they are distracting. I will maybe update the light_environment if people want me to completely change the mood of the map, but atm there are no plans to.

Changed the "bars" on the sides of endif to be white instead of black, and changed the top bar to green as well. This helps with visibility in endif.

Updated both spires to close off a portion of batts

Updated both spires to fix seeing through the ground in parts of the arena

Adjusted bridge spawn on both spires to be in the middle of the bridge as opposed to more toward batts

Adjusted batts spawn on both spires to be in the middle of batts

Removed "front door" spawn on both spires

i'd really like to keep the space theme, but i've had lots and lots of complaints about poor visibility when looking upwards and there's not really much i can do about it because i'm not a graphics designer/artist, so i figured "hey this skybox is pretty pretty" and this is the next best thing

skybox is this one btw

also i just spent the last 5 hours copying the clipping from cp_bad/prolands over to each spire (all three of them)

this completely fixes all clipping issues that existed on spire so thats good i guess

release coming soonish, i swear! it should have these fixes + more and maybe spawns updates

  • fixed all the spires' clipping, can no longer see through the spire at some angles/positions
  • fixed gullywash floor textures, they were too bright
  • changed skybox to something more reasonable
  • changed light environment to match sky
  • fixed other clipping besides spires on spire 1 and 2 (not spiremod) involving potential OOB stuff

todo

  • fix gullywash weird black square issues (already been working on this for hours but nothing ive done so far looks any better than the current version/b1/a12 because nothing on this map is snapped to basically any grid at all so i have to eyeball everything)
  • maybe add lava spire??
  • maybe add process mid/second
  • maybe fix clipping on the entire map on walls/roofs
  • maybe remove 2v2 maps to make room for more arenas
  • add twenty more spires

I also experimented with moving the blands mid balc spawns to the small hoodoo on each side of the map but it turned out to be way more annoying
