Right now I'm using a pretty terrible headset that i picked up for like 10$, and I'm looking to buy a new one. I'll mostly play TF2 and listen to music.

I heard that it's better to buy headphones and a mic separately, but I haven't found any good combos.

I have about 100$ to spend. What do you guys recommend?

I use those. Got them for like $15 some time ago and they are pretty good.

Modmic is pretty good, it's $30-40. Pretty great sound quality, although it's kinda quiet so you need to boost the volume up, amplifying white noise. If you'd prefer to allocate more money to the headphones, then get the Zalman clip-on mic. It's really cheap and it gets the job done.

With the headphones I just bought Sennheiser's cheapest pair (HD 201) and they sound good.

I believe Sal has that. It kinda seems similar to mine but with a mic.

A night before the TF2 Celeb Mix-Up 5, my headset broke, so I took off to the nearest store in my super small town: K-mart.

There I bought the Gioteck EX-05 Wired headset, which was about 60$. I was told it was basically as good as Turtle Beach, and cheaper.

I'll tell you, it's definitely one of the best mics I've invested in. It's sturdy, and very comfortable to wear with a flexible mic attached. The only thing I had a problem with, because it was wired, it fit for not just the PC but also the XBox and other consoles.

I simply cut off the cords that connected to the other consoles and now I just have the PC plug-in cord.

If you're looking for quality, I might suggest trying that out. If not you could always return it. It MIGHT give you a slight headache the first time around, but probably only because you're not used to the sound quality it gives.

But yeah! So good luck!

Scroll down till you see your price range and click on it. I have the AD700s and while they are far and away the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn, they come at a price(and lack any isolation whatsoever). For a first dip into real headphones, I've heard very very good things about the Superlux heeadphones.
