Thanks so much for keeping us up to date :) I'm not sure how your system works and how easy cfg changes are to implement, but letting us know if the configs are ready for the next tournament would be great :)

Having only US Central servers is generally way better than both east and west

I just finished playing in the latest NA Practice Tournament for TF2 with some friends, and I have a few comments on the server and match performance.

First of all, the issues mentioned in the thread previously are pretty obvious: fade-to-black, and the buggy ready-up plugin. Simple enough to fix, I reckon, and not all that impactful on the game as a whole.

The server locations, however, are not ideal - US Central servers are probably, as suggested by saam, a better way to go. With the LA based server we played both of our matches on, most of my teammates (as well as myself) were experiencing pings above 100. A couple of us were also experiencing severe lag-spikes that prevented them from playing to their full ability.

I'm looking forward to seeing these issues resolved, as Razer Arena seems much easier to use and far more accessible than other avenues of TF2 competitive, with its great design both in game and on the website as well as active administrator support before or during games (something sorely lacking in other leagues)

Best of luck to you folks - I'll definitely be playing here in the future.

Played my match against Sneaky's team. Everything went well and everyone was nice. The only issues were the black screen (obviously), and the ping. Our pocket had 140 ping, and our demo had 100, and I think someone else had 100+ on their team. I'm not sure what the actual problem was, since I was on the opposite coast to the server and had like 60 ping, but there was something wrong.
In any case, having Chicago servers is always better than splitting between east and west coast.

In the end it's still better than any UGC match I've played, so I'm happy

A few bad things:

Screen fades to black on death.

Servers definitely should be colorado, chicago and dallas next time around. I can see some issue with choosing servers when teams don't agree.

cp_process is extremely outdated and should be using cp_granary_pro instead of cp_granary.

Games are played first to 3 rather than first to 5.

Aside from that, your admins are very helpful, probably due to there only being 8 teams so I'm not entirely sure how everything would pan out if there were suddenly 70 or something. The site is nice as well. Lots of potential here.

EDIT: also can't pause

screens fade because of games like 1.6. tournaments would made screens fade black so they couldnt give extra info for the extra 5 seconds a player can see after they die

DilusiveThe final issue I would like to discuss is servers. Currently Our server pool is Japan, Australia, Netherlands, and North America East and West. We are looking to expand upon this list, but we need to find the right server providers with the right equipment, that will provide the desired level of access. We apologize to those experiencing higher pings in our EU events, do know we are working to correct that as well.

paging tragic

Australia servers? ;o I didn't even see!

Would be neat to have some ONC to help this kick off, or something like that.

Hey
About servers for Asia. Most of the Asian players are from Korea, China, Malaysia and Singapore. They usually play in Hong Kong or Singapore as mainland Chinese players only get good routing to the first. There are some Japanese/half Japanese teams but I think it'll be better to have them play on other servers than everybody else on theirs. However I understand that this server pool is shared among few different games and TF2 may not necessarily be a top priority so I understand if Japan is desirable for those reasons or just not convenient.

Hey, there's India too! We aren't that big but we've had many players as UGC Asia/Asiafortress champions >:-(

Before we get any ideas of expansion, we should get everything with the platform worked out tbh

I would agree with this. Expanding to Asia this early would not yield sufficient feedback from the players and teams, with the current state of affairs. However, if/when it does happen, Hong Kong and Singapore would be ideal server locations.

Knuckles_Thanks so much for keeping us up to date :) I'm not sure how your system works and how easy cfg changes are to implement, but letting us know if the configs are ready for the next tournament would be great :)

I can guarantee this will all be in place before the next major event. We will likely see a few more practice events with the original structure though.
