it's legal because of Freedom of Speech and Expression; filming anything in a public place (except bathrooms/etc) is okay because there's no real expectation of privacy

hes recording the ugly parts of our society, trying to raise awareness for what some goverments do or showing how people react if they where aware of beeing filmed and monitored. Basically it also puts pressure on government institutions like the NSA or KGB and will maybe make people revolt against surveillance and control in the end... atleast thats how I interpretate it, this dude is a hero

Another interpretation is that the oldest security camera of all is always rolling: YOUR EYES. You are always being watched and people see a lot more than they let on. Privacy has never existed! Never look at your fellow human-being/organism the same way again ever.

How is a classroom full of students one of the "ugly parts of our society"? As the professor in the video Moritz linked clearly states, it's a private classroom that he is intruding on and wasting peoples time and money. He's is quite simply being an asshole and then when asked anything he just says "huh?" At best he is a moron that thinks he's making an amazing observation of the human psyche and at worst he is a completely mislead idiot that has no care for anyones privacy or time and seems to show he has almost 0 respect for those he is filming. From what I've watched this man is in no way, shape or form, "a hero".

I understand the point about surveillance and how people don't care about security cameras and how often they're filmed. The huge difference here is that not only is he actively intruding on them, he himself has much more presence than a camera, in a box, in a corner of a room. That's my two cents at least.

There was an email interview that someone did with him a while ago that I can't find. If I remember correctly his answer for why he made the videos had a lot less depth and seemed more like it was just to get reactions from people...

I honestly want to know what anyone of you who thinks he is a hero would have done if he had walked into your room and started filming without reason.
He's either very brave or stupid, because I see no point in literally shoving a camera in peoples' faces - it's intrusive. I'll be honest and say I would have a hard time not getting physical with someone who refuses to stop recording; he literally was politely asked to leave what seemed to be a college classroom and then came back just for the sake of 'entertainment'.
Anybody could do this, you just have to be a big enough of an asshole.
