ComangliaGuys windows number scheme is retarded

1, 2 , 3, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10

Windows 7 should be windows 10, unless I'm forgetting one.

Windows 10 is actually windows 12...

It's the 10th of the Windows NT family of operating systems.

You don't even need to use the tile interface 99% of the time so I never understood why people hate on windows 8.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but i'm sure you guys have seen that little icon in the system tray that says "reserve your free copy of windows 10".

I gave them my email to reserve one, but can anyone think of a good reason why you shouldn't install windows 10 on release? I believe it's only free for a limited time and it looks good from what I've seen, but maybe you know something that I don't.

Reserved as well, my only major concern would be if OBS wasn't functioning correctly on the new OS. From what I've read there are problems with game capture but everything else should be ok.

dangoWhat happened to windows 9

They fear all the programs still out there that detect OS by looking for the first 9 of 95 or 98.

Don't have the icon as well.

I hope they improve support for tablets as well, because despite the fact W8 seems to have been designed around tablets support it's actually pretty damn awful. I have a Surface pro 3 and I use my 4 year old laptop in favour of it because windows is so painful to use on it.

Posted that 7 months ago lol. Realized by now. I don't see why they can't set the internal OS version to 10 or something else and just market it as windows 9 though.

I think you'd then get developers slowly being driven crazy by having inconsistent version numbers that should now last literally forever.

it's gonna be pretty good, the best OS they created yet probably, actually even win 8 was better than 7, despite the "new" start menu you might not like

Windows 8.1 is actually really good, so is the metro start menu once you have customized it to your liking by throwing out everything you don't need and adding panel groups for other apps. I've messed around with windows 10 in vmware a bit, it's annoying how Cortana searches everything via Bing instead of Google and I don't think you could change that. Might be wrong and they probably added more options by now. Also i'm curious about that new browser and if it's going to be just as terrible as Internet Explorer.

My work got a couple win 10 vms up, couldn't find anything on changing Cortana either. Cortana seems pretty cool though.

I wonder how it will do with new HTML5 elements though, even Firefox is behind Chrome when it comes to their support. Just cross your fingers it's not an IE rebranding

nobelharvardsIf I start up Chrome, and it is still loading, but the address bar is able to accept input, it will continue to boot to my home page while I am typing, say teamfortress.tv into it without interruptions. In Project Spartan, you need to type it quick before the home page loads, otherwise the page URL suddenly overrides your input and you have to type whatever you wanted to visit again.

Replacing address bar input is definitely a problem, though I do want to point out that Chrome is never closing and autostarts by default so it already has an advantage in that matter..
