I'm genuinely interested in tftv's thoughts on this game. It looks interesting and like a more realistic Dishonored. Granted the gameplay mechanics are good and *fair*, I'd consider getting it during a sale.

I'll be starting my playthrough on it tomorrow/later tonight. It has a lot of mixed reviews from different websites but I'll be the judge of it myself. If my computer can handle it (which it probably can't because as of late I haven't been able to stream without FPS issues 24/7), I'll try to stream it.

Here are my thoughts after "procuring" a copy and playing for 4~ hours.

If you have played the original Thief games, you'll be disappointed. It lacks the atmosphere and depth of the originals (it's very linear and scripted). The "swoop" ability makes the sneaking around part a little arbitrary but I can see where people can like it. The story I can't say much for as I haven't actually played through it enough, but I watched a full stream of the game about a week ago when it leaked and it gets hella silly. Also, loading screens are rampant, even in the main hub map and last between 5-10 seconds at a time. Gameplay wise, the AI is balls and has a very narrow FoV.

Take this with a grain of salt, I enjoyed the time I've played so far, and most of my complaints are from being jaded about the game not living up to its predecessors. It reminds me of Dishonored a lot, though I think Dishonored has a slight lead in entertainment value. I'd give it a 6/10, but it'd be lower if I bought it at current price. I'd wait for it to be 15 at the highest before buying it, and I'll definitely get it at 10.

Why are there so many comparisons to Dishonored rather than comparing it to the previous three Thief games? I guess if it's like what DNC said I'll just pass on the game.

because it's not really like the previous three thief games and is actually like dishonored really.

from what i've seen, i'm disappointed in it being less like a thief game and more like dishonored. buy the original thief games over the new one, it gives you 3 better games for 27 dollars less than the new one.
e: you also can buy the bundle of the 3 originals for 4 dollars less, so 31 dollars saved

I enjoyed dishonored so if this is anything like that, i'll most likely enjoy it. I've never played the prequels.

I have played it for about 2 hours and I think it's OK. I tried to make it super difficult with no focus, chapter saves, no crosshair, etc.. but it still seems to be pretty easy. Also the AI is blind. I would buy it for 25$ if it was on sale but I think you should pass for now.

My computer isn't the best and the parts are getting outdated, if they aren't already, but I feel like this game isn't that well optimized.

I bought it, played the first mission on easy. It's easy, cool graphics and settings, story seems okay so far. I never played the past ones so I don't really know much about the characters. Game play is very similar to Dishonored. There's no free roam though. You basically have to go where the game tells you to go and you're free to explore certain areas but that's it. The graphics are pretty hard on your pc too if you're not playing on a decent rig. I'm running like 25 FPS max on highest settings.

this is worse than dishonored because the controls are clunky and it feels really scripted, like there's exactly one way they wanted you to approach each section

It's opinion. I like Gold more, but some people like Metal Age more. Deadly Shadows is fun in its own merit
