ApolloftwThe main problem right now is that HRG is putting too much money into their lesser successful teams, (LoL, BO2, SC2, and CS: GO) and too little money into their more successful teams (ie TF2).

You put your money where it will get the most return. League of Legends is an ROI printing machine right now, and so is SC2 if you have a player somewhere in the top ~20 worldwide. Dota 2 is failing a little in this regard, but it's still pretty solid.

If you could somehow quantify ROI accurately and put it on a graph, TF2 wouldn't even be visible by comparison. That is why they aren't putting in enough money. If they're not giving the team enough, then it's up to the team to ask them to either pay up or get fucked to put it bluntly.

If you're the best in the world at something and you're flying across continents regularly to promote yourself and the game, when someone comes along and offers you $200 you should be telling them to try again.

Handcuffedi don't really give a shit about all of this and which blue-named person gets the + frags and which get the - frags, but HRG players are seemingly always involved in the MGE tourneys and were easily the most active team during the charity event. Shit, B4nny even donated his unusual during that event (rather than sell it for LAN funds). It's disingenuous to suggest that they don't support the community just because they don't stream frequently.

that unusual was given to him to sell at the end of the season for charity iirc. and playing in an mge tournament to win the prize isn't a selfless act rofl.

vegurif i donate, do i get one or two signed weapons?

You can have as many signed weapons as you want, and to clarify you will have to provide the gift wrap and items.

The roundtable raffle is related to a stream event that shade is planning where he will be giving away some things such as steam games and TF2 items.

Hey b4nny, how come you don't stream anymore? I know I enjoy watching you whatever you do!, public, jumping, surfing.

Lansky streaming was also fun, and Shade streaming is also fun, when either of them aren't streaming, you should!, and that can also motivate people into donating, I can't donate since I'm broke like shit, but maybe other people would enjoy it so much, that you would actually get donations from that!

Maybe you guys could stream MGE in HRG vs each other, bball of the team, anything that might entertain us :D!

You can have as many signed weapons as you want.

Given the tendency for signed weapons to be "flipped" for inflated prices, this seems inadvisable.

HazSwagDoes this mean if I donate 10 dollars I get all three perks or just one?

You will get all three. So your $10 donation would get you mentoring and signed weapons and the premium code if you wish, plus you will be entered into the raffles and have your name in the i49 video.

vegurcan you explain mentoring? is it like a demo review?

Mentoring can include a lot of things, but yes, the most common methods of mentoring are things like demo reviews and Q&A. We will try to help you in what ever way works best for you, to the point that you feel that you got something worthwhile. It won't be "one-and-done." We will be juggling a lot of mentees so some patience is also appreciated if you do donate.

nerkulI haven't heard anything about the i49 donation bonuses yet. Has this happened already?

I think the process has started but I am not in charge of that. It was organized by TFTV (mana, enigma, etc.) so they have that info.

For those that don't know, I literally started the Donation for LAN thing. It was with CommFT Season 9 with Experiment. Our goal was 1,000. I think we raised like 4,000.

The main reason we were looking for donations was because CommFT had its own little community that was removed from GotFrag or whatever natf2 and the entire season we were trying to give them access to our team. A team of TLR, justin, dummy, reptile, carnage, ww, moero, and myself.

Our organization and donation breakdown was as good as it could have been. And we helped around 40+ people. And depending on your donation level we would watch 1 demo with you or mentor you for 1v1 3 times. Not to mention the interactive experience made new friendships and relationships.

Never in our wildest imaginations did we expect to get over 1,000, or 2,000, or 3,000, or....
I still remember how after LAN how I was tracking down people on my team to mentor specific parties. It was literally like a job. And I am sure, law of large numbers, we missed some people a long the way. The ordeal took months to finish up and boom you had "the model" that sadly no teams have changed. If anything its been used and abused.

There is a term, a concept, if you will, if the product is good enough, it will sell itself. It is a team's job, a team's responsibility if they intend to ask the community for money that they offer the community something new and fun that they cannot get elsewhere. You have to take time and think about what you are going to offer and predict if you can even pull it off. Seeing the same hey man donate 10 and you'll be entered into raffle (scheme to get many people to donate 10), if you donate 50 you will get a demo review with one of the team members..... probably the most boring shit ever.

On a personal note I wanted to add something here which I have never really addressed. Season 11 FLOW was one of my favorite seasons. Out of nowhere we just kept winning. We streamed almost EVERY scrim and streamed the majority of our matches. It was a roller coaster ride that we got to ride with the community that essentially never dipped or dived until LAN, was just a constant upswing. We followed the same model as Experiment and got around 2,500. Not to mention met some awesome people in the community. Where the disconnect arises is that what made us great on one end, killed us on another. Everyone in the community has access to all of over scrims, all of our matches, and could hear all of our comms. Whereas other teams had little no content out there. The effort and pressure of running the team, organizing the donation stuff, getting wiped at LAN started to invade my real life and I stepped away. Its part of the reason I don't freely give information away and when I do find someone who truly appreciates what I do, I latch onto them and try to teach them everything I know.

In my opinion it not until you have a job, responsibilities, until you find out how relatively poor each one of us are and then you learn the value of money. So the season after season mundane request of hey man donate money, you get this for that, hehe, its bland and boring, and the more careless it gets, the more disrespectful it is to our community.

I am not a huge fan of HRG, at all to be honest, but I am excited. I am excited to watch Quakcon in a few hours and watch my boys play. I am excited to watch Mixup, Trihards, and HRG battle with quickfix and heavies and pyros at lan. I am also excited to watch HRG go over to Telford and bring back the gold. This is a great month for TF2 and that's what should be on all of our minds.

maybe on the unusual, i'm not sure. i guess i'll take your word for it.

and certainly those mge or bball tournaments have small key awards, but they're popularized in part because HRG players (and other invite or well-known players) are participating. that participation helps the community, and its something that HRG players seem to do more than most other invite teams. that's all i was saying.

Why do I feel like this is more of a business transaction then a donation. Give us $10 and we will mentor you for a little. Can't I just get a mentor from the mentor section of these forums for free or streams, people like Marxist/Bl4nk/Ruwin who are above my level of play anyways?

How long are you actually planning on mentoring these people that pay money? How can you make it worth it then say someone that actively puts out information and education on the game frequently for free?

My fear is that I donate, I get mentored for like a few hours and then it is over. I may or may not have one of you on my friends list and then probably get deleted later on to add someone else.

I rather have someone that actually wanted to mentor and help me get better than someone that I pay for and then have no interaction with later on. Some people I can become friends with and talk to on a regular basis and play games with.

Tl;dr Unless I can get offered something better then what I can get for free then I see no reason to donate.

sums it up fairly well

there's a certain group of players who seem to start streaming only when they want money (lansky on mix^ comes to mind) and then immediately stop after the lan is over. how about just streaming in general to help the community grow? maybe then people won't see you as acting entitled.
tri's been streaming throughout the season, in and out through team drama and all that

i certainly think they deserve our money more than anybody else asking for funds

obv I wasnt talking about tri in my post

and to clarify, I know what a donation is and I wasn't saying tri hards "deserve" other people's money more, ffs this is a video game, donate your money to malaria research if you want to do it for moral reasons, I'm just saying that, pragmatically, tri hards have done a better job convincing people to donate

the community is smart enough to look at people who only start offering a window into their team right before lan and then gravitate towards the team that's been open the whole season. hell, you only really need one guy on your team to put that effort in (tri, in this case)- look at how much support tagg got for his teams by streaming games

This is a great month for TF2 and that's what should be on all of our minds.

brad has the right idea. if you truly want donations your team has to be on top of things and also offer something that other teams won't. you have to stick out and stick to your duties and promises. I haven't been in the scene before s10 so I can't say i've seen that many teams wanting donations but it's true. it gets old and if teams keep doing this it will continue to get worse and our community will look worse.

tl;dr step it up; if you want those donations you have to work for it and promise more/different things for a change.

[quote=PYYYOUR]For those that don't know, I literally started the Donation for LAN thing.
