#977 PC Build Thread in Hardware

I guess that means the problem is "solved".

KuantaKusto doesn't even have an LGA1151 category yet so they might've not added it to the database yet. Check some shops directly.
One alternative would be the B150M Pro4S.
Also slightly cheaper PSU, same platform: Seasonic S12II 430W.

GPU is pretty weak. We're talking "struggling to get 40fps in OW on low"-weak. 360 is ok, 260 might be cheaper though. The 250 is just too far down, even the 255 is ~30% faster, 260/360 ~100% faster.
Mobo is seriously cut down. I understand you want to save money, but this is too much, I mean PCIe 2.0? Cut any more corners and it's a circle.
PSU is horrible. I'm not kidding. It's not even 80 Plus. 80 Plus Bronze is pretty much the minimum acceptable today and this one doesn't pass the base 80 Plus. I've got a 16 year old PSU lying around that's better than this one.
Seagate Barracuda might be cheaper.
Haven't checked the case.

#80 ban the looser cannon in TF2 General Discussion
DeathyIt should be banned because:
- Can completely deny an uber by just clicking at a choke from the right distance
- Can one shot a medic around a corner (141 damage + fall damage)
- Sends people flying away
- Double donks are too random for a competitive game (debatable)

Some minor changes:

It should be banned because:
- Can completely deny an uber by just clicking at a choke from the right distance
- Can one shot a medic around a corner (mini-crit damage + fall damage)
- Sends people flying away
- airblast is too random for a competitive game (debatable)

Ban Pyro.

Any kind of undodgeable/AoE stun is retarded.

PSU doesn't affect fps.
I forgot to ask the most important thing: Did he overclock?

Depends on the game, but generally GPU, yes.
I'm not sure if you understood what I said. 4GB vs 2GB VRAM is the same as a 4TB vs a 2TB HDD. It's not any faster. If you don't need it it's just a waste of money. And on 1080p 2GB VRAM is plenty.
Yes, newer games would benefit from a better GPU (better GPU, not more VRAM), for example you could get a 380X.
But you don't need to. As I've mentioned before 380 = Fallout 4 1080p Ultra ~60fps. So on "low-ish settings" I don't see any problems for years to come.
On the CPU side you're safe, too.

There's just no need to sacrifice far lower loading times (affects all programs) for 10% more fps if you're already getting far more than 60 fps on mid settings in all games, even 60 fps on max in some games.

Might aswell max out the budget, go Skylake and get an SSD.
Before you protest, you don't need 4GB VRAM on 1080p. http://www.teamfortress.tv/post/514892/pc-build-thread

If you're willing to stretch the budget or sacrifice something else you can get an i5-6600. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QNy4Hx

Try on that lower resolution before jumping to any conclusions.

Honestly, I never tested it. Going by the data I have gathered on TF2 multithreading and a rough single threaded comparision between the two my educated guess is that overclocked the G3258 wins by a decent margin. On stock clocks the 860K might win, but it's close.

I'm pretty sure the average 24 player server pubber didn't even dream about paying to shoot robots in order to get fancy items.
Lo and behold, Valve is making money by offering them exactly that.

If you're willing to overclock, no.
There's nothing but Pentiums in the "sub 100 euro CPU range" so highest clockrate wins.

Fallout 4 1080p 60fps on Ultra.

I didn't want to overcomplicate matters.
The i5-6600K and i7-6700K are the only ones that are shipped without a cooler and honestly, someone who got either of those but no aftermarket cooler probably fucked up somewhere else aswell, along the lines of not getting a Z mobo or something like that.

I won't sugarcoat this.
The only way that that's a solid rig is if you intend to use it as a doorstopper.
It wouldn't even work. Can't use an AMD AM3+ CPU on an Intel LGA1150 socket.
On the other hand any SATA SSD will work with any mobo (since all have SATA ports) but that doesn't change the fact that the V300 is shit.
PSU and GPU are pretty bad as well.
You should never want to use wireless. Wired is always better.
All builds require a CPU cooler, but CPUs come with one.

Using Amazon only for a pc build is also a bad idea.

No, not anymore (G3258 being the only exception atm).
Also the cooler is the least of your problems. Going from non-K -> K CPU + non-Z -> Z mobo costs more than a mid range cooler.

pcpartpicker doesn't have Singapore so I'll need a link to a shop or price comparision site.

#13 Anime suggestions? in Music, Movies, TV

Don't tell me it was Crimson. I've never seen someone with that much bad luck regarding GPUs.

Nothing that can't be fixed with a FLOWCHART.
Since you don't need the troubleshooting flowchart anymore, here's an anime flowchart.
If you've already watched everything on it that interests you I have some more recommendations.
Budget? Genre?

So in other news don't use coolers for sockets they haven't been approved on? And take off big coolers for transport?
Arctic though:

Depending on the parcel service drop heights of over 2 m can not be excluded. Therefore we recommend regardless of the CPU used to carefully evaluate the dispatch and the packaging used and to possibly mount larger and heavier CPU coolers by the end user.

RIP PC.

And electric screwdrivers smh.

#950
When in doubt, manufacturer website.
There's also molex to PCIe 6/8 pin if the need arises. It's still an inferior and more expensive PSU.

#952
Yeah, you probably won't overclock so no point in spending money on that.
