Kinda, Unless your team is sandbagging or just fucking around.
stay alive at mid for long enough to actually use it and you're not throwing
you close a midfight pretty quickly with kritz...

Shortly after valve added 3D HUD models so renaming your medigun/kritz stopped working

I disagree that most "good" teams check on rollout. Seven definitely does but I can't think of a single invite team that does. At least not in the matches I've watched.
It's pretty much throwing on smaller mids like gully and badlands but larger mids like sunshine and process it can be fine.

When I played with EVIL for this season we had scrims against King's Crew enough to warrant me always checking their medi-gun on spy whenever we started the scrim or whenever Lucrative died, since they ran kritz so much it mentally scarred me. So it became a habit for me afterwards on my current team.
Spy at the beginning of round is optimal for checking kritz, but when you play with a bunch of nerds long enough (my team) it's extremely easy for them to discern a kritzkrieg by them just glancing at the medic.
fun fact: the voice lines the medic does when he pops a kritzkrieg is different than the voice lines than when he uses an ubercharge (it's why I have a voice command play when I pop uber/kritz, to mask those specific voicelines)

If you are consistently winning mids with your medic alive and have a demo that is good with kritz it isn't throwing.
I see shade doing kritz to mid a lot. Even without surprise effect kritz can be quite good. You don't need to get the magic drop to be effective with it. Getting 2 frags is good enough. Even getting 1 frag + the mid cap is good.

I wouldn't read into this much, because Shade does what he wants (ie: runs frying pan), which is usually trolling his team a lot of the time, lol. I think this also has a lot to do with Froyo pretty much doing whatever they want and still winning.
But to answer the original question, kritz to mid isn't throwing, it's just risky and a little gimmicky. It can be cool to catch the other team off-guard if they aren't paying attention, but there can be a lot of counter-play to it.

Freezetime isn't longer the humiation time is longer, you're probably thinking of the strategy period that was only used for i58 and I think i61

yeah if the community isn't careful tftv will run out of space
im not reading a lot of what people say but theres a lot of mids where going to mids and not commiting/putting ur medic in danger instantly loses the mid vs an equally skilled team so going kritz and banking on somebody being near u who can use it when u get it is inherently a gamble and if u lose people early ur teams in a mega shitty spot
aim-Y’all make a thread about anything now a days
If all of your threads were interesting or productive why did it take you 3k posts to get to 4 stars?

aight tftv noob, previously before they changed how stars worked having a bunch of posts gets u 4 stars
anyone who got 4 stars after the changes is a fake ass nerd and anyone who got their stars before should get gold stars instead
in addition to what everyone's already said, kritz to mid is actually really good when there's not a lot of time left because if the mid fight is taking a long enough time you just get to kritz and have a good opportunity to quickly win it
i played an invite match in s24 vs mae's team and went kritz to mid when there was like 56 seconds left going into the round and it was tied 4-4, the other team all thought it was impossible to win and figured it was going to go into golden cap, but we wiped them on mid and jarrett spawn camped them with kritz and we capped in the very last second (thanks to esea giving a tiny bit of extra time at the end)
