Are you guys more of a fan of standard layout maps like process and sunshine, or do you enjoy more unconventional maps like gully and metalworks? What new designs would you like to see in future 6s maps?
i want the cp_obscure floating health pack above mid and i want sniper banned so maps can have non-fatal sightlines
Truth is that it is very difficult to make a new 5cp map for competitive.

i feel like this discredits the map a lot, bagel is one of the most balanced and well designed maps in the pool once you understand the flow.

One thing I think would be cool is a hybrid 5cp/payload map. So like a 5cp map but 2nd to last is a payload cart that can be pushed either direction. Or a koth map with 2 capture points (with 2 separate timers) that both have to reach 0 before you win the round.
most of the interesting alt gamemodes (3cp with koth mid, 7cp, 2koth) tend to make game durations longer and less consistent and dont rly add much to the core game flow beyond novelty

if we could get a couple new koth maps and maybe badlands2 or some shit (subbase looks cool to me honestly) and then shoot metalworks and snakewater into space that would be neat
I think RGL needs to be willing to take some of the "big five" maps out of the pool. They can always rotate a map back in after a few seasons. A structure like this could be interesting:
- 3 of Snake, Metal, Gully, Process, and Sunshine, rotating in and out
- triple koth, with the third not being Clearcut
- 3 spots left for Sultry, maybe Granary on rotation, and maps that need to be tested/have the potential to become mainstays. I think that if the pool were expanded to have 2 or 3 new maps instead of just 1, the development/testing of those maps would go a lot faster.
Having a model where the pool changes every season, even if it's just taking out Process and putting Metalworks back in for a season or two, could be really fun. I would also be in favor of reducing the pool from 9 maps to 7, and just removing two of the big five maps; players might be hesitant to learn new maps because the pool is pretty big. It's not clear to me whether taking out Process and Snakewater, for example, would just cause people to scrim/play matches on Sunshine more; it could actually give players the time to learn Sultry/other new maps. You have to basically force people to play these maps at first, and liking them comes after. I have a feeling that in a year or two, playing/liking Sultry (even in the lower divs) will be as standard as playing Bagel.

I've thought of an idea of how to fix resup binds being op, and I think the best way to do it would be to have the area that makes the shutter open be unable to resup. That way leagues don't have to outright ban the bind because you can sorta circumvent it by just changing classes. This way it would be way more consistent and prevent people living by the skin of their teeth or times where people resup when they're outside the shutter (lol).

people have posted this before but why limit koth to 2 maps, including viaduct for 3 total wouldn’t be a huge difference (im also just sad that via was gone in the last 2 or 3 seasons I’ve played in, such a classic map but i guess ppl don’t like the sniper angles or prefer clearcut somehow)
another idea is what about trying to swap metalworks for granary for a season, they’re both chokey soldier maps but (besides invite) we haven’t gotten to play gran in eons, at least as far as i know
seems like they’re likely going to just continue to do it by the raw numbers based on post-season polls though, but we did get them to do a 6 week season so maybe it’s possible to try other new things
