Over the next few weeks, I am planning to run a series of weekly cups on the FACEIT platform with this being the first run through. FACEIT have been actively seeking out tournament organizers in the community who can create content on their platform, including myself and a few others who may be creating similar tournaments in the near future. The point of this whole endeavor is to further test/improve the FACEIT platform, to prove the TF2 competitive scene’s interest in their services, to help secure future involvement from FACEIT in our scene, and to give you a consistent place to compete every week with your friends/teams. Simply put, by helping to make these weeklies a success you’d be doing your part to help strengthen the competitive TF2 scene, and win prizes while doing so.

So what we’re going to be doing is opening this tournament up to people who may want to get involved in casting or producing for TFTV. If you’ve been casting on your own channel and would like to move to TFTV or are just interested in casting in general you could consider this a tryout of sorts to try to get some new talent. If you’re interested in casting or producing for this tournament please add me and I’ll walk you through everything you need to get started.

I hope so. For this first tournament my options were fairly limited and I wanted to make it resolve in as quick a timeframe as possible. What may end up happening is that these weekly tournaments would be run in this single elimination format while the double elimination format would be reserved for larger scale tournaments such as the TFTV/FACEIT Opening Tournament.

FACEIT's config doesn't like koth. It isn't set up. Word is it will get eventually fixed, but we'll be koth-less for the immediate future.

It wasn't an option in the map list I had available. Last I heard they are still working on the scoring system in their match mod. Regardless, this cup will likely have a lot of pug teams and I don't think viaduct is a very popular pug map.

I'm not actually sure which version of granary it is. The map list says just cp_granary, but I believe it also said that during the Opening Tournament and that connected us to granary_pro.

I have word that there is something similar in the works for EU through another organizer so keep your eyes out for that. Of course EU teams and players are more than welcome to sign up for these NA cups as well.

They do have match stats, but they are not embedded logs.tf stats. You have to refresh the match page to see them. They are looking into improving the stats pages in future updates.

The cup is running today in just under 2 and a half hours so I just wanted to give you all a quick update. I have changed the format from ASAP scheduling to 45 minute cycles for each round. The first round still starts at 6PM EST, then the 2nd round starts at 6:45PM EST, the third round at 7:30PM EST and the final at 8:15PM EST. The whole thing should be wrapped up by about 9PM EST. Creating a fixed schedule was done to help accommodate the stream being run by saam on TFTV as well as to help you all get a better idea of the maximum time investment to expect. Since it's a single elimination bo1 cup, the shortest amount you may play is 1 match, and the longest would be if you make the final ending around 9PM EST. Hopefully knowing the maximum time commitment will help you all decide about registering.
