Bioishzbtdarkk-Certain versions of HDMI (1.4a or 1.4b I think) can technically support the bandwidth for 1080p @ 120hz, but the problem is no 120hz monitor I know of will support it.

I think you could run 1280x720 at 120hz, give it a try. I don't think your laptop would be able to run 1920x1080 at above 60 fps anyways.Can max out bf3 and get above 60 fps , and i get above 180 fps in tf2..

Anyways hdmi 1.4 is it about the cable or the port? sry im a BIGG newb at this

You need a 1.4b HDMI CABLE. And you can't use VGA at all. HDMI is still pretty bad for pushing 1080p 120hz, but you have a laptop, which doesn't offer an option for DL-DVI. So HDMI is all you've got.

brownymasterHDMI is DVI with sound, so it should theoretically work.

EDIT: darkk-You need a dual-link DVI cable to run 120hz. Regular DVI or HDMI doesn't have enough bandwidth. Displayport can run 120hz if you have it on your laptop, otherwise you might be screwed yeah.HDMI uses the same signal as DVI for video.

Whether or not the computer drivers can do it is what I'm not sure of, but I imagine so. Bandwidth has nothing to do with it.

Let me get this right. i can use my hdmi for 120hertz?

Some more about my problem.
I recently brought a BenQ xl2411t and it just arrived today. I unboxed and plugged it in, but there was only the option for 60 hertz in windows...

i have read that it could be some about that you need a dvi cabel for 120hertz. If thats true can i use a dvi to hdmi cabel then. because my laptop (msi gt683dxr) dont have a dvi port. so is it even possible for me to get 120hertz? or am i just screwed....

i apologize for my bad english.
