#74 Bill Nye/Ken Ham religion debate in Off Topic
GrimJust let people believe what they want, as long as it's not being forced down the throats of others, I don't think it's a big deal.

He's totally allowed to think that way, but it is a debate, not a blog. If he makes a weak or invalid argument, the listener is supposed to criticise it.

defiancepeople of god don't concern themselves with science or spelling duh

I don't agree that we should take one woman's stupidity and apply it to the massive group to which she belongs.

i disliked Ken Ham's logic, where "observable" science was stuff you could plainly see, while "historical" science is somehow incorrect even though it uses the exact same principles (finding evidence and drawing a conclusion from it). "you can't prove whether or not there was water on mars because you weren't there." Then he explains that the evolution of dog breeds supports his idea of noah's ark without explaining why his historical evidence is valid but Bill's isn't. It wasn't thought-provoking like i was expecting it to be. it was just inconsistent and kinda frustrating.

He would have been much more effective if he didn't have to take the Bible literally. There is just so much that disproves individual events or the timeframe of it, and an allegorical approach is more applicable to modern life as well as harder to disprove.

#1 Opinions on 6s sniping / other offclasses? in TF2 General Discussion

This is a spinoff of the other thread since I'd like to read more opinions without getting in the way of the specific discussion. What do you guys think about sniping in 6s? It gets used in holds and pushes on all sorts of maps and points from lobbies to invite, so obviously it's effective. However, people like to play the class even when it isn't appropriate.

My personal opinion of it is that it's not fun to fight against, ESPECIALLY when it's run full-time. Non-falloff hitscan damage just doesn't fit with the flow of competitive tf2. Balancing maps around sniper sightlines is a pain in the butt, too.

It's biggest benefit to 6s is that it breaks last holds, but I think removing some of the other offclasses like Heavy and Pyro would counteract that, and I don't think people really enjoy playing against any of those 3 classes.

#27 I need a new HUD in Customization

Bloodsire, you need to pick a size at which there is a font. I'd look at the included fonts and pick the number that's closest to what you want.

I don't know if it would work to use another HUD's fonts but i think RaysHUD has three sizes with outlines.

#3 Refresh command in TF2 in Q/A Help

useful if you keep it at 120 for the games that don't like 144, but 144 for tf2

#1 Octodad is friggin fantastic in Other Games

it's a bit pricy for the playtime you get but it's easily the funniest and most unique game i've played in a long time

#33 Source 2 Leak in Other Games
-Mike-Valve does not seem to rush out big updates. It is Valve Time after all.

It's amazing that their business strategy of "do everything really slowly" hasn't put them out of business. Steam was an amazing stroke of luck for them, and hopefully they use their financial success to make better products rather than "resting on their laurels" and taking things slow.

#7 how to ban items in TF2 General Discussion

The powerjack needs to remain banned. A pyro with that much mobility changes the meta in a way that leads to more reflecting, more movement disabling, and more uber denial.
