#40 South Florida TF2 Charity Lan in LAN Discussion
DoctorMiggyThere is 20 PCs yes, but they have a backroom being redone that will accommodate a LOT more people. It's getting a fresh coat of paint this weekend, I'm headed there on either Saturday or Sunday to see how things are going. I will be taking pics to put on the site.

And yes, you can bring your own mouse/keyboard but remember you are responsible for them

Sorry, LAN noob, but that means there will be keyboards provided?

Don't mind the rigs being provided, but just to be clear, they are providing the keyboards and mice and micepads?

I would prefer to bring my own mouse if that's possible as well.

#42 Elaborate new phising scheme in TF2 General Discussion

Best rule of thumb I can think of is when trading with your "friends" you should make sure they really are your friends. This type of scam where they impersonate your profile isn't all that new, I've heard of it from like 2 years ago. But it is sneaky how he impersonated both your account and your friends account.

Sucks man, hope you can get a steam ticket to support it, as long as you can find the accounts that impersonated you. tf2outpost.com keeps logs of pretty much everywhere an item goes, and so does tf2items.com, so you can usually find the "middleman" accounts that jacked your items and see where they ended up.

#17 South Florida TF2 Charity Lan in LAN Discussion

Being in South Florida and never having access to cool venues, I'd be interested once I know a date.
Would most likely go.

Also would love to know more about the tournament itself, I know there have been tournament ideas in the past where solo gamers would be grouped with other solo gamers to make a pick-up team.

#3 Crit Fail Pugs in TF2 General Discussion

I'm a friend of the owner and programmers of these pugs, they're pretty neat. I've played a handful and the pugs have typically been very fun.

All they really need are captains to pick the people, but those will come with more regular users, unless you're feeling adventurous. Most of the regulars are fairly good so there's no really bad picks. Just come in and have fun once in a while!

#75 Your Character Here [SFM] in TF2 General Discussion

Name: row
Class: Medic
Team [BLU/RED]: RED
Map/Setting: Metalworks Lobby (the room next to mid with all the pipes) surfing a rocket from a soldier while shooting him with a crossbow needle.
Pose: Strafing Backwards in the Air (next to the window in lobby)
Hat: Noble Amassment of Hats (Green Confetti if possible)
Misc 1: Das Hazmattenhatten
Misc 2: Das Metalmeatencasen
Weapon: Crusader's Crossbow
Other comments: Since I'm strafing backwards, could I get a top-down shot with my body in one part, the soldier on the ground, and the crossbow needle firing in the middle? I'm sure an expert like you can see how to use all the space to really capture the moment. Would like "row" (lower-case) wherever you can put it in the available space (corner or bottom of the picture preferred)

Really like the work you do!

#15 What is the best why to get into competitive tf2? in TF2 General Discussion

It starts with following what you want. I played 2fort pubs for almost 400 hours before thinking "Highlander would be fun with the people on my server. I want to play engineer."

That team fell through, so since I still wanted to get into competitive, I formed a team with friends for 6v6, and decided to learn medic. This was around the time of i46 with Classic Mixup, so I got to watch PYYYOUR and Shade a lot (mostly PYYYOUR).

Whatever class you want to play, look up some of the best players in that class. The My Gaming Edge series covers a lot of basics for things like 6v6, but I'm not familiar with anything for Highlander.

But Highlander is the easy part, almost any class at any lower levels aside from Demo doesn't need any set guidelines. You can try your own stuff. Find a team in UGC Iron/Steel (http://www.ugcleague.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?61-Highlander-Players-Looking-for-Teams), and that can be your start in the competitive world. From there, just go wherever your newly developed skills take you.

Until then, TF2Center is the only real option for playing with competitive players.

Also clorg's directions are pretty accurate.

#15 Recent phishing outbreak in TF2 General Discussion

I was hit pretty hard by downloading it, but it's really easy to remove.

Malware Bytes and Malware Bytes Anti-Root Kit. Make sure that if you've downloaded these, disconnect from the internet before you run them. That was my mistake.

Frag Movies? SFM Movies? Are there any restrictions to what's added to the site?
