As far as I know, many asian players that were planning on going to i58 (creep, kusoyotech members) have retired from tf2 to play Overwatch. There is a slim chance of them going to i58, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
I can't say I follow much of AsiaFortress but if the grand finals that were played a few weeks ago are an accurate representation of their skill, they would not have much chance to succeed internationally. Makes sense for them to quit while they're ahead.

It will impede on the fundraisers for i58 which is a much more prioritised event.I agree with this for this year but there's no reason iseries has to be the biggest event going. In some ways it's good to have competition between lans because there will be more incentive for sponsors to offer higher prizepools to make their lan the important/prioritised one. I'll take what we can get at this stage but if TF2 gets bigger iSeries really isn't a big deal as lans go and Dreamhack is probably a bigger name in terms of making the game look legitimate.
If we become big we won't be needing fundraisers to go LAN at all, because it would all be funded by winning tournaments online, and it would also be a more valuable investment for orgs/sponsors to provide LAN support for teams.
Please everyone sign up to this tournament, only one sign-up so far!

lolhl but in the nation's cup team sweden was warmup for denmark before their official. we got fucking smacked 5-0 in like 10 minutes, which is especially cruel considering it's highlander as well... i've never been more destroyed. somehow they lost their official to ukraine, which we beat later in the finals, lol.
also got destroyed by team infused on gullywash 5-0 in 15 minutes, and they were the underdog, rip.
