#27 ESEA-O S20 Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion
aim-^ in short mustard stole his team roster

[*] no johns legacy

it appears to me as if demoted stole the team's roster, seeing as how he is the team leader

#11 lft in Recruitment (looking for team)

ex is one of the nicest people I've played with, and he works really hard to improve. he's a good listener and fast learner, and since he got his 144hz monitor and new pc his DM has been skyrocketing. he's really good at finding the perfect 4k cleanup to secure a round or a mid fight. everyone else who contributed to the death of mlx blue deserves at least a teensy bit of blame, with one exception, and that's ex.

good luck, mang.

TheFragilemustardoverlordor s6 lan where oplaid got the admins to force a single bo5 finals instead of 2 bo3s for the lower bracket teams due to flight schedule and beat fanom that way
Pretty much all of this is wrong.

This was the only ESEA LAN (to my knowledge) that had lower bracket finals and grand finals on Sunday.

We (blight-fanom) had flights that left around 5 or 6 PM. When we realized there were lower bracket finals to wait for, we were hesitant that we might miss our filghts. We asked blight-own and coL to start a little early, and they said that was fine. However, they ended up getting there late and warmed up for a while, so they basically started at the time they were supposed to (maybe a little later, I forget).

The match went to all three maps. The first two maps took an hour each, and the second map took about 30 minutes. With breaks between each set, it all lasted about three hours or so.

We were then informed that finals were a single bo5, and the only advantage we had is that we got to pick the first two (or maybe three?) maps, and then the rest were random. We figured that because the first match took so long (and because there was a whole different match before grand finals on Sunday), we were running out of time. We asked the other blight team if a single bo3 was acceptable. Some of them were fine with it, some of them were indifferent, but blackymonster (and maybe oplaid) were adamant that they would only do that if we couldn't choose to play Viaduct (easily our best map).

We were at their mercy at this point, so we quickly agreed. While we sat down to warm up, Torbull forced all of us to instantly ready up. We had absolutely no time to warm up, even though the other teams did (on top of a three hour set), and we got fucking destroyed on the first map.

As I've said, I'm pretty sure this is the only ESEA LAN that had lower bracket finals on Sunday, as well as a single bo5 for finals.

how is almost everything I said wrong? the only difference seems to be that you're saying blacky and not oplaid was the main force behind it, and that the esea admins fell in line really quickly and didn't need a ton of convincing

as to the former point, I remember that oplaid was the team leader so he was the one who talked most about it to torbull, and as to the latter point I never denied that esea weren't super nice about it themselves

fatswimdudegr8stalinWhat's the oldest roster in ESEA that's had mostly the same people on it?Oldest currently used roster in ESEA is Five Dollar Club with 13 seasons https://play.esea.net/teams/40643
Egyptian Flamingos has had a roster since season 9 (only 6 seasons though) https://play.esea.net/teams/52086
Meat Market has had 8 consecutive seasons https://play.esea.net/teams/64532
Froyotech has 7 consecutive seasons of invite https://play.esea.net/teams/69987

Not sure how consistent their rosters have been though

to clarify:

the origin of egyptian flamingos was that mmj(?) team with stampeed and zclipse, which eventually got claimed by mad men in IM, went to invite as nNn, then just sat there til s18 when the current players on it used it in open

the meat market roster started as brackets, then became that weird team blueberry made, and stayed that way til broking got it to remake meat market in s18

the five dollar club roster started with that klickin with klicka team that had buddha, caidh and defiance, then it became that weird AG revival, then r5, then that team with dbw and duwatna and giffy in main or something, then became sorta chill 2 good-y and then that cisco adler team, and finally five dollar club

I hope this was as boring to read as it was to write

a lot of people tend to think of shrugger as the ultimate lan choker, but they forget such famous instances as:

-smaka being on 75 fov for like the first half of a lan (which, to be fair, shrugger did as well on map 1 of his first lan)
-enigma's dreadful performance at his first lan in s6
-weeble utterly flopping at lan
-shade's very first lan, as demo in s5, filling in for pandemic because he happened to live in the area (not really a choke because he wasnt close to invite at the time)

I wonder if people also remember that first lan, where a) one of the top 4 teams couldn't go because their sponsor fucked them over, and b) all 4 of the teams that did go had players missing from their normal lineup (animeman for enigma on coL, davis for destro on EG, shade for kermit on pandemic, sequel for hong on blight)

or s6 lan where oplaid got the admins to force a single bo5 finals instead of 2 bo3s for the lower bracket teams due to flight schedule and beat fanom that way

or s7 where eg didnt go because cyzer accidentally gave the team password to everyone on gotfrag so they couldn't roster flame when they needed him

s8 seemed the most normal lan so far, until the aforementioned trophy incident

man, early lans had so much more personality

while there's prolly a pretty good chance that this bo4r fellow really does hack, it doesnt help to have people like this serenity kid with horrible reading comprehension and an even worse understanding of logic

do people remember the time pandemic used a ringer on someone's acc and got caught by coL. and then sat out the rest of the esea season?

or that jaeger played on someone else's acc to help them win an open game?

or the time mason used blur on demo on someone else's account in open playoffs and then vhalin on a roster rider's account to attempt to make im playoffs?

or the time davis pretended to be dummy in the alienware arena?

or the legend of djbuttfarts1?

#5 "Amusement tax" in Off Topic

on topic: I don't support this tax, but not because the concept of an internet tax is inherently ridiculous. rather, I don't support it because sales taxes are inherently regressive and I would prefer promoting progressive taxes- raising the payroll tax cap, creating more luxury taxes, raising capital gains taxes, bringing back the estate tax, maybe even a millionaire's tax, etc.
