scheduling ahead of time with people on your friends list is still much much easier for every division above open
I'm sorry for the people who need to use discord to find games and are therefore hoping that actual good teams use it just to hope that it trickles down and eventually more bad teams use it too, but it has basically 0 advantages over just talking to people on steam and tons of disadvantages
some updates

dog4 hype???
Just to be clear, there are a few rosters I have my eyes on and it partially depends on who I pick up, but if anyone has a roster that they ain't using + 2 people to fill in for a few games I would GREATLY appreciate it
I'm sure some payment scheme that doesn't involve you getting dicked over by premium/league fees could be arranged as well
this dude was a monster like 15 years ago
saamHueyLewisBuncha willfully ignorant people posting, go figure.
It's a plan to strengthen the league because the top has been dying out for the last 7 seasons and nobody in gold ever moves up because they're afraid of the few actual good teams on plat.
The thought being that forcing a larger division and Swiss scheduling will mean you'll still play mostly teams at your own level while getting a taste of those much better. Therefore you get decent competition and hopefully learn faster by playing those better teams.
What also might happen is, after a season, some lower level teams will fold but consolidate into better teams, keeping the best players. This is what happened last time the league was in this format.
The only downsides are that you don't get a meaningless gold medal, and plat loses it's round robin format, which was utterly pointless anyway because we played 4 different game-modes (payload, a/d, koth, 5cp) per season so scheduling wasn't ever fair.
Logically the decision makes perfect sense. Realistically though it's not going to help because the only reason the top is dying is because fewer high level 6s players care anymore. If about 20-30 IM+ level players decided to play it'd be the golden age of Highlander. 6s is better though so this is their only move.
I think the pants-on-head retarded decision making of Kumori is a pretty big reason that the league is dying. She's made so many wrong decisions over and over and over again it honestly is starting to feel intentional.
I don't think the league would have ever gotten to a point where this was necessary if someone who had any idea what the fuck they were doing was in charge.
Kumori took over from infinite, it's not like there isn't a proud tradition of stupidity going back years in ugc
I'd prolly have something to say about this, but I'm league and forum banned til november (what convenient timing) so I cannot join the party
bump to say I really need a sick POCKET tryout 4 tonight
a good one too

shoutout to the heat fans that said they were gonna beat the cavs in eastern conference finals
losing hassan whiteside basically killed the dream of making it past toronto
Mercyless-SideshowI don't think you can make that argument at all, and it's wishful thinking to believe it.
There are real genetic differences between people's reaction times, intelligence, logical thinking, etc. Even if you discard all of the genetic differences, your entire wealth of personal experience before you picked up TF2 already mapped out how you'll mentally approach the game and how you approach the process of learning and improving.
There is obviously innate talent in people that defines a skill ceiling - look, for example, at the people who DO train as hard in sports, or practise madly in esports, and still fail. They might even train and play better, analyse the game better, but still lose. The same can be applied to sports, where athletes train all their lives in identical conditions and can lose out to training partners or w/e who have better natural ability.
Work and the refinement you achieve hones your natural ability and brings it close to your personal ceiling, but you don't have the ability to be the next Usain Bolt if you just try hard enough. And to genuinely tell people they do is disingenuous and very hard to believe.
In terms of TF2, most people I think should be able to achieve an Invite level or w/e reasonable level you want to set. There's a small playerbase and it's not that hard even if you have little natural talent.
Also your final point is largely bull too; loads of players have not improved since 2014, or are just as good as they were, or have gotten worse, even if some are better. Also, just because some people improve over time (duh) doesn't mean everybody can improve infinitely until they're the best.
I should have made my point about tf2 players improving clearer. I meant teams at the highest levels of play in general not specific players(top play at i49 compared to i55 for example). Otherwise of course some players stay at their level or decline over time.
that's not what the thread is about though
Indust when he cares is probably still a better medic than Nursey, but without knowing anything whatsoever about the situation it was pretty obviously for non-skill related reasons, indust has had a tendency to vanish for long stretches of time the past few seasons and he generally gives off the vibe of someone who feels burdened by having to play for a non top 2 team every time he does.
That being said, I think people disliking Indust has made them rate him much lower than his actual abilities, I would still have him as a top 3 medic at least if not higher.
just poppin in to say that my cloudy moon salty dog (1 of 2 in existence) is now all-class :)
