TobI have a theory.

What if they're planning on updating badwater and turbine? They must be aware of the _pro versions
And 2 maps that "recently" got updates are granary and badlands. Perhaps they think those 2 maps are fine now so they were removed from the pool.
Meanwhile maps like foundry, vanguard, swiftwater, etc are kept in because they're still planning updates to make them less terrible

I'm not saying it's a smart idea for them to do it that way, but I wouldn't be surprised if the MM pool is actually just a test pool for maps they want to update

they removed turbine in the beta . can you see all the improvements done to the map to reintroduce it ? me neither ...

LaMqTaThe Halloween update looks promising but remove badlands/granary from the map pool and adding F*CKING BADWATER...like Swiftwater was not enough... :(

whats so great about it ?
if you remove the community created stuff and stuff that was already created before in past years, what have they actually done ?
horseshit

that survey basically is: are you guys happy with casual atm ? yes or no ?
those are basically the only results they can actually get from it

#177 The State of TF2, Post-Valve Meetings in TF2 General Discussion
MR_SLINSpaceCadetI'm sorry but I can't agree with your reasoning. Valve doesn't have to "develop the 6v6 game mode" at all. There are 23 Seasons of ESEA, 25 season of ETF2l, 17 seasons of Ozfortress, etc, etc. We have collectively already developed the best way to play 6's that showcases skill and tactics.

All Valve needed to do was pay attention to the comp community and give us the required support.
They did pay attention to our community and what they found was a community with low viewership, low participation, and just a small scene overall. You could argue that we were small because we didn't have developer support, but if you put yourself in the developer's shoes it was possible that we're small because the game mode that we designed for ourselves wasn't very good. They needed to test it out for themselves and find that out on their own.

In our defense, we did the best that we could with the tools that we had, but it's obvious that we could only take that so far. At a certain point it's hard to introduce people to a game that has so many barriers to entry.

Valve is slowly stripping away those barriers and introducing the larger TF2 population to the competitive side of the game, and that's why competitive TF2 is in a better place today than ever before.

You have too much faith on a dev team that had the timer missing from the hud for like a week ...
Every single project they worked for the past 8 years its either stale or dead... doomsday, mannpower, pass the time, mvm, watergate, matchmaking, rd_asteroid, snowplow etc ....all of this while draining down the engine to the point where people had to rely on dx8 and low settings to keep the game somewhat competitive playable and you say they look down at the current competitive state and think they can come up with a better solution ?
To me it really seems as devs they might be really capable but they lacked leadership and that translated on what we see now.

#157 The State of TF2, Post-Valve Meetings in TF2 General Discussion

So mrslin you say "The competitive game itself is in a better place now than ever before. We finally have developer support!"
Then you say
"1) They're not looking to contribute to our version of competitive 6v6 TF2. They're making their own version.
2) They're not trying to control our game -- they're creating their own game mode and they're not shutting us down.
3) They don't need to communicate with us since they're not trying to work on our game mode."
What have they actually done ingame to help our competitive scene ? Besides fixing some map stuff like stairs clipping ?
On this bridge that your creating are you representing valve or the competitive community ? Because you keep telling ppl they´re wrong yet you contradict yourself more than once, and most people seem to disagree with you, i don´t get it

the queue times are still long sometimes for no apparent reason, the rank system its questionable to say the least unbalanced teams still happen all the time and now that there´s no stopwatch most of them just leave the game instead of adapting and trying to help the team. You see it often nowadays its becoming the popular thing to do...

except no one gives a shit about those maps

noone gives a shit about matchmaking either
the pubbers don't care and you play competitive instead

I guess people didn't gave a shit because they had no idea that competition was even a thing on tf2 and they had enough fun playing casual.
Once people know there is a way to play more serious games than those 4 spies/3 engies rosters in pub it should work..

The problem is that 70% of the tf2 playerbase doesn´t have the slightest hint of competitive in them. For years they associated the game with a chill casual experience with zero responsibility as an individual player in their team.
Most of these people mindset of getting good at this game its attaching themselves to a pocket medic, creating nests, or put a mini sentry on one side of the map and spam the rescue ranger from the other, etc ...
When casual first came out with the stopwatch on, in their mindset it was revolting that they now had to try complete an objective or actually think from a small competitive point of view on the best way to help the team, and when before they managed to get their killstreaks going and in their mind be successful at the game, now they failed miserably and struggled with the simple tasks of playing the objective.
They cried and raged and like one or two weeks later valve removed the stopwatch, cause you dont want to piss off the hat hoarders that actually support financially the game.
If you cant get them to play casual with a stopwatch you think they will ever be interested in 6s ?
Stop trying to balance things trying to get these ppl to play competitive because at the end of the day they will never support it and you´ll end up allienating the actual competitive community.

MR_SLINmousiopeits honestly shocking seeing what your opinions are ! to be honest as hard and annoying as it must be working on tf2 due to its age and all the mess of a code and variables it exist, when they created MM they had the hard part already figured out by the competitive community (the competitive community already know what works what it doesnt works, period) they didn´t had to trial new things, look for feedback, and constantly readjusting settings or code. Its all out there already.I used to think the same way. We spent 9 years developing and balancing our version of competitive TF2. Why wouldn't they just copy us?

Comp TF2 players are players that are dissatisfied with the casual version of TF2. These are the most hardcore players who have thousands of hours in the game. While you might think that we know what is best, there is still disagreement within the competitive TF2 community on the best format. 6v6 and 9v9 HL are the two major formats, and while there seems to be a general consensus that 6v6 is the best competitive format, there are more 9v9 players worldwide which is a big signal that something is wrong with 6v6. Thus, the developers are trying to reconcile that and create a competitive game that is fun for everyone.

they can´t aim for everyone, they have to choose one, they will never be able to please everyone.
and the casual players arent dissatisfied? when will koth_badlands with 24 players with random crits be a pleasant casual experience to anyone ? its like playing a DM server with random crits and 24 ppl ... is this what a casual game of tf2 is now ?
