frknkirbyThere's no killing the polls, there will not be 9 invite teams. ESEA doesn't really care about what we want in the end. I mean, they do sometimes, but when it comes down to big chances (like a 9 team invite division), they don't care.9 team invite isn't a big change though. It's a smaller change than from 8 to 10 last season.
Being able to solidify more than 8 teams every season would be a pretty big change, but that's also on the players and not just ESEA.
Flakxyes, but lets face it if you're comparing yourself to a general pub player rather than a competitive player everyone on this forum was probably above average when they first installed the game.
When I first played TF2, I thought I had to battle medic and revive people after being fragged (I was really confused when using my medigun to try that on ragdolls didn't work). After not being able to kill anyone, I was highly convinced it was the hardest class in the game.
So, yes, you're right. I started off above average compared to most pub players.
RoyceMaybe I'm just being cynical but I'm pretty sure the invite poll exists to get people to buy premium. I don't think we can actually kill it especially with a solution that would require more work on ESEA's end to set up a bracket for the last invite spot. A communitty run tournament like Blueberry's suggestion is a really good idea, though.

When I realized I was a pub stomper.
ScholarThere was a HUGE discussion at the beginning of this season about the invite poll. Invite teams should not be decided by a poll, there should show matches or a tournament to decide.
edit: that said, 9 team invite div is a great idea
Why did we go so long with polls for that? How are polls even a good idea? It's just a way of a team getting into invite because people want them there, not because they necessarily belong. Now I'm not saying any team voted into invite didn't belong in it, but it shouldn't be a situation where it's up to the people. Tournaments/Show matches are a great idea.
In that third picture, do you think that height advantage might be too much height advantage considering there's so much of it? I haven't gone into the map yet, so I'm basing this just off looking at the picture.
am i the only one who likes vanilla steam
ya this is ridic. the game isn't fun whatsoever when i'm constantly screwed by this problem.
can't. need to buy a 45-60 ft cable first lol
can't move router/modem either. it was specifically built under my house to work where it is only. roommate insisted we put it in his room because "why should we get bad connection" (so its okay if its the other way around i guess lol)
i can see what he means. i'm not gonna be the one to bother with whatever problems you and your team have. at least not any more than giving simple advice. him making the thread wasn't necessarily a problem so long as he didn't throw around names and hate on people for no reason. asking for advice isn't a problem, but now this thread is slowly beomcing one.
let's just lock this thread and you guys can talk about it together, again.
do u think this is fucking funny
but yes pls help
this is the part where this becomes private
i wouldn't necessarily call you immature about asking people to help with a problem you're unsure how to resolve. maybe you could have asked someone on steam, sure, but it's not really too big of a problem. if you don't throw out names, at least.
if he's acting how you say he is when you talked to him, then i would 100% not deal with it. sure, you play this game to win, i'm sure, but i would never believe you if you said that you weren't playing to have fun.
if you're not having fun playing this game, whether it's playing it competitively or if you're just a casual player, then you shouldn't bother playing this game. well, if you're a comp. player and you're not having fun, there may be things you can do to solve that, and in your case, it would be to not play with that guy.
i'm not saying it's the best idea to stop playing with the rest of your friends as i felt the same way after my first team. it sucked. i made good friends with these guys and had a ton of fun playing with them, but then there was a time where i had to stop playing with them night after night and as i said, it sucked. but i moved on to a new team and made more cool friends that i had tons of fun playing with.
sure, it's hard, but it's only hard for this moment. the second some other team wants to possibly play with you, your focus turns to that and then when you make it on another team, your focus is then on winning with that team and eventually your grow to become friends and have tons of fun (or try to).
it's hard to ignore your feeling, but try to do just that and think about your options logically. make your decision based off that and off of what your team wants to do about it. you're not going to get anywhere by blindly making decisions. you could easily just quit the team before they get the chance to tell you they're cutting him. so then you're out of a team when otherwise you wouldn't be, you'd be playing with your good friends and wouldn't have to deal with that guy. your loss because you blindly made a decision. so basically, use your head and what your team wants to do about it over how you feel.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I have thought about this a couple of times and I've wondered if we've been playing A/D wrong too. It may not even be so much as us playing it wrong. It may just not be the best game mode to play in a 6v6 environment. The maps aren't really "too big", but technically you're supposed to put your focus on two completely different places at once, at least until one of the two initial points are captured. With there only being 6 players, let alone one medic, it seemingly makes it pointless to defend two points instead of only one. Well, unless you perfect the iron man(?) strat, which is pretty much the only available alternative. Even still, a team could just waste their uber beating that strat since there is no medic and get their uber back pretty quickly before attacking B with, at least what would seem like no real loss in time.
Taking a few seconds more, for example, can always end up hurting your chances of winning, but it's nowhere near guaranteed.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is with the way A/D works and the fact that we play 6s, it has seemed kind of pointless to try and defend both points at once nearly 100% of the time.
Why even play a game mode that we're technically not playing correctly? I know the game wasn't made around playing it competitively, but A/D seems like a game mode directly meant for pubbing, or highlander at the most (even still, only one medic). It's really just a medic issue. That's not really the only issue, but it's probably the biggest one.
This kind of reminds me of Standin. At most, it's best to only try capping two points at once. Even then, you're kind of stretching it if most of their team (including med) decides to stop the part of your team without a medic from capping, while like one or two of their players cap uncontested.
Like I said, maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I've seen it.
