#118 why dafuqwizat didn't cheat: in TF2 General Discussion
Sasamijedi

I never said he should be unbanned. I'm not here to defend Wizat, I'm here to question the process by which cheaters are detected and punished. I've talked to etf2l staff about this before, just not on a public forum. Surprisingly this has been much more informative, especially that long post by Quintosh about their AC demo analyzer.

Hey Quintosh, if you're still here, does your analyzer ever get false positives? Has it been tested for that?

there are multiple resources on the internet showing how cheaters are caught, so you're not asking for the evidence to learn from it

Yeah, I brought it up to balance the cheaters learning argument. You're right that this isn't good enough on its own.

quintoshwith the current resources we're working with the trade-off in transparency is actually more negative for us than it ever was. assuming it'd just be the 1500 something demos i've watched and the 6-8k the whole staff watched in total are going into a case, i'd personally not have an issue with providing transparency even if there'll still be a bunch of fanboys bandwagoning and denying evidence beyond reasonable doubt just because they love attention and circlejerking. but providing current transparency also means we'd have to leak proprietary or private tools and other resources only available to us that lead to cheaters getting banned a lot of the time. and then it's pretty easy to stay under the rader compared to "just don't track players through a wall if you're wallhacking cause it's super suspicious in demos and people will look for it"

Oo, now that sounds like something cheatmakers could use, not just cheaters. Alright, you're right, don't leak your secret weapon. Was it how wizat was caught, though?

quintosheither trust us or don't. but as far as i know, no other tf2 league has an anticheat this experienced and with access to private resources, which is why other leagues/sites mirror our bans

I just wish I had more than your word for it.

CollaidejediflamasterTell me what you'd do in his situation if you were clean.Grind and prove myself after the unban

Respectable, but wouldn't be very fair to you.

kordyanit's funny how the only argument wizat has is that "it wouldn't make sense for him to cheat" like yea and it wouldn't make sense for u to use exploits and notoriously fail to send demos, also playing without cheats after u get banned doesn't suddenly make u clean

Tell me what you'd do in his situation if you were clean.

Failing to upload demos is a big oof though. Has he been banned for that in the past?

quintoshjediflamasterYou must see how this lack of transparency can be abused. .
you must see how transparency can be abused and then come to the conclusion that there's not much benefit except for giving a couple people peace of mind

If someone's ready to conduct in-depth research of AC evasion there are already multiple quite solid sources available for that. Knowing how cheaters are caught is also a powerful tool for people who don't cheat, and that's (at least I'd hope) the vast majority of the comp community. Having AC work validated encourages improvement in their accuracy and detection. I get that there's a tradeoff but I don't think it would be that bad at this point.

Collaidedidn't the admins say "we'll ban u if u post this" and then u posted it and got angry over your ban?

Buddy, I got angry when I've found out they bullied the OP into taking that video down with a threat of a perma ban. That's why I reposted it. Come on, it's not that hard to grasp.

Collaideshut up about "MY TRUST IN THEM HAS BEEN DWINDLING" you're just a stupid person that should have no say in this matter

Good thing you've said "stupid" and not something like "black", otherwise it would be such an intolerant and ignorant statement.

doesnt help your case (watch discord overly in 1st clip)

Can you say with 100% certainty you've never been in the same discord channel as a cheater?
And even if this cheater was wizat's lover that wouldn't be an argument.

Collaideyou don't know what their proof is.
cheaters dont get told how they were convicted, why do you think that is?

Sure it's pragmatic for the AC, but it also means the etf2l ban and all its mirrors are based purely on trust for the AC staff. You must see how this lack of transparency can be abused. I'm not saying it IS. But it surely can. Personally I think transparency is worth trying, as my trust in etf2l staff has been dwindling as of late.

#17 ETF2L Ban Policy in TF2 General Discussion

He shouldn't be banned at all, this is clearly a personal issue. Nobody would care if it wasn't an etf2l admin.

That being said etf2l staff dishing out revenge bans is hardly surprising.

Stinson_OutApart from multiple logically flawed arguments you are presenting, the metaphor of the cactus up your arse is straight up not supporting your case. We did not tell you to do anything at all. On the contrary: we told you to simply do nothing. Here is the conversation you and I had, using your metaphor of choice:

Jedi: Hey Stinson, will it hurt if I shove this cactus up my ass?
DCS: Yes, Jedi, it will likely hurt like hell. You probably shouldn't do it!
Jedi: I will take my chances, I am shoving it all the way up there!

Aaaand then he complained that his anus hurts.

OK Stinson, let's switch the cactus dynamic around if that helps you get the point. You can tell me not to stick a cactus up my ass all you want, but using your power as an etf2l admin to try to pressure me into pulling the cactus out of my ass when I want it in there is just dumb. Aoshi himself said you got no complaints about the video from BB. "I don't want you to do it" isn't a justification for a ban.

FireHonestly if you approach an admin asking whether something will get you banned, then you do that thing just to get banned I don't see a problem.
You can create theoretical situations as much as you want, it's obvious that he uploaded the video just to get banned in this case, so it deserves him well.
Are we gonna complain about sonny black blacklisting smzi temporarily when he asked for it as well?

It is pretty easy to just assume what my motivation is, isn't it? Who cares that I literally said why I did it on the previous page.
