ok so logitech says the problem has something to do with static electricity and my theory is that the static electricity coming from long hair kills the mouse.

don't ever do this, using registry cleaners often fuck your shit up. the only time you need to "clean" your registry is when you're having a problem, you then manually edit the registry to fix only the entries that need fixing.
