Try removing your HUD and installing a different one. If that works, redownload your old HUD (if you want to continue using it) and try that.

I have a fix for the scoreboard. Basically, it lowers the stripes a bit, and slightly widens the scoreboard to remove the gap in between the stripes (don't know if that's intentional). I didn't mess with anything else on the scoreboard, but the text on the players part of the scoreboard seems off, as do the class images. I'll see if I can do something about that.
Edit: Here's a pastebin, the code stretches the page too much: http://pastebin.com/VWgePFAn
Another edit: Scoreboard doesn't cut off players past the 6th on a team on the 6v6 scoreboard. I assume the same is true of the 12v12 scoreboard for players past 12th on a team.
Prototypesyou gave 0 credit to broesel
Yeah, you're right, but it's unintentional, looking at this:
I have decided to make an attempt at "finishing" his unfinished ShinyHUD.
"His" should be replaced with "Broesel's"
All fixed. Even if it's abandoned, I think he'd like credit for it.
anjirocoolIGLAbsolutePending approval from ESEA, we will be adding ESEA roster imports.good luck getting esea to agree to something
They would sooner give TF2 a ladder system and fix the scrim mod (assuming it's still broken) before doing this.
flatlineWell, I don't think it's solely a tf2 related problem as I get slight stutter in games like Fez as well. Plus, I didn't have these problems the first time I had Win8
So it's happening in both windowed mode and fullscreen?
Also, about the HUD thing: I don't get that, and I don't use a VPK for my HUD. TF2 is installed on my SSD though.
You don't need 60 fps on a stream, 45 or 50 is fine.
Also I thought Slin had an i5. I know he streamed at 720p60 forever.
Edit: Hope no one minds that I interjected.
If you want to stream, consider the AMD FX-8350. It's quite a bit better at streaming, but worse at applications that won't use all 8 threads (i.e. most games). It does use a fair amount of power, though (nearly 50 W more than the 3770k).
An i5/i7 gives you better performance in games but less for streaming. They tend to use less power than AMD processors.
I'm running a 3570k in my computer right now. I've never experimented with an 8350 so I don't know personally how good it is, but I do know some people in the community (rays for example) have it.
wareyahookyIf you're playing in windowed mode, you have vsync on. Without 3rd party tools that are banned in leagues, you can't turn it off on AMD/ATI cards as it's forced in Windows 8 and the drivers cannot turn it off at the OS level. Also forced on win 7 unless aero is disabled, just for the record.
Yes, that is correct, and is actually the reason why I know vsync is forced on on Windows 8.
You see, Aero was "removed" from Windows 8. And by that, Microsoft meant that they removed the glass effect, but kept almost everything else. They also forced it on, meaning vsync is always forced on as well.
For Nvidia users, you can disable vsync in Windows 8 in the Nvidia control panel. For AMD (and I assume Intel) users, you need to, as I said above, use 3rd party tools banned in leagues.
If AMD would allow us to disable vsync in their control panel, or if Microsoft gave the option of disabling vsync, this would be a non-issue. Maybe if someone made an application that has the sole job of disabling vsync on the desktop, or if the developer of the Strobelight application added a vsync option (so we don't have to have multiple applications running if we use both) we'd be able to use Aero without vsync in leagues.
DKWell, generally the performace is better when TF2 is played in Fullscreen mode.
Also, this guy disabled V-sync in Win8 using AMD graphics/drivers by doing this, I don't know if it would help you, I hope it does.

I don't think this is what you meant to link... if it is, then it's completely unrelated.
S10 LAN. User directed me to the stream, and I was instantly excited by it. Did newbie mixes, and then new map pugs because for some reason they let anyone play. Ended up playing with clanmates in Steel last summer.

I have a desktop, I just want to be able to use this laptop to play TF2 at the least 60 fps (preferably at least 120 or 144) in case my desktop decides to type kill in console.
I'd say no more than $100. Preferably less.
Bumping this.
My parents have decided that they will pay for up to $600 of the laptop I decide to get. Anything over that I have to pay. They will also pay for an OS upgrade to Pro if needed.
I have tried Windows 8 both with a touchscreen and with a trackpad. It's horrible with a trackpad; I assume a mouse isn't much better, and I wouldn't use a mouse on a laptop most of the time anyway. So if I get a Windows 8 laptop, it has to have a touchscreen.
I'd get a Windows 7 laptop, but those are often rare and more expensive than their Windows 8 counterparts.
Also, my dad and I prefer getting the laptop from Best Buy as we could take the laptop in and quickly get it fixed, whereas with Newegg or another online store we'd have to ship the laptop in to get it fixed, meaning I'd have to rent a laptop from the school. My dad could probably fix it himself, but if there's something he can't fix, the warranty would be void.
Currently I'm looking at 2 laptops.
Lenovo IdeaPad P500 Touch - This has a 2.6 GHz i5 and 6 GB DDR3 RAM, upgradable to 8 GB. It also has a 1 TB HDD that runs at 5400 rpm. It runs Windows 8. It has a 4-cell lithium ion battery, while most laptop batteries seem to be 6-cell. I should be near power outlets all day, however. At $600, it's fully covered by my parents.
Asus K55A-XH51 - This is a Windows 7 Professional laptop, so I don't have to worry about upgrading. It has a 2.5 GHz i5 and 4 GB DDR3 RAM, upgradable to 8 GB. It has a 500 GB HDD that runs at 7200 rpm. The battery is 6-cell. However, the graphics chip is listed as "Intel GMA HD." I'm not sure if that means an HD 4000, or a separate (and therefore pointless) chip. I also don't know if I can turn it off if it's separate. It's $654, so it's more than the Lenovo one. However, my parents may pay more than $600 for this one as it already has Windows 7 Professional installed.
Any ideas on which one of these I should get, or have another suggestion?
I'll just bump this before anyone else does, because I know someone will end up bumping this with a suggestion, but I already have a new chair.
It's this one: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/301437/True-Innovations-Sport-Mesh-Mid-Back/
I basically went into Office Depot, and sat down in a couple chairs, and then this one. It felt like the perfect chair. I was able to get it for $80, and it's definitely worth $80.
So I'm just going to turn this into a general desk chair thread now; why not use this when there's already a bunch of suggestions already?
