try mastercomfig which uses dx 9 and is generally believed to be better than dx8 cfgs now
alternatively if you're on AMD the trails aren't there because AMD stopped dx8 support, so you could try downgrading to an older driver that did support dx8

all lawena does is swap out your personal cfg files for it's own
best way is to just make a custom folder with the stream hud/cfg in and swap out your normal custom folder with this one. make sure you override autoexec so any files in tf/cfg don't get execed by accident
make sure you save all your binds and settings in your own autoexec so they don't get overwritten
for binds you use castingessentials, i made this zip for kaido demo reviews which just has CE and some basic settings/binds which are good for streams

that only temporarily ignores any non-default convars (and doesn't let you change them ingame) which is useful for testing but goes away when you remove the launch option
i think the only way to be sure is to reinstall the game, but removing tf/cfg and tf/custom and verifying integrity of game files will get you there I'm pretty sure, then launching with -autoconfig (once only)
e: also disable steamcloud since that can cause some issues i believe

If you make assumptions and create unrealistic expectations in your head based on non-credible sources or vague laguage, you will be disappointed often and should blame no one but yourself. In today's blog post they were honest about the progress of the update, and have promised it will not only be one of the biggest in the game's history but will be coming very soon. You aren't being ignored, you're the one ignoring what's right in front of your face.
