I recently finished all of my schooling this last semester.
I have a B.S in Biological/Biomedical Sciences (call it what you will) and got my Masters in Biomedical Engineering this years Spring.

Recently was hired to work in a Medical Research Team, going to be fun.

If you're trying to budget, some of the 2nd Gen Ryzens are really good in that aspect. Ryzen 5 2600 is like 165$ on Amazon with Prime and comes with a decent air cooler that isn't TOO loud on max speeds and with OC'ing can easily hit 4.0 GHz with not horrid temps (around 60C with like 1.3-1.33V so you still should have head space for voltage as general rule from my research is keeping it below 1.4V)

Its easier to recommend things if you give a budget as well, seeing as if you're going anything recent you'd probably have to upgrade to DDR4 RAM and an updated MOBO chipset/socket
