#144 AG Supports CEVO in Expanded League in TF2 General Discussion

Support your regional LANs...

Alfa - ESEA LAN is a good setup for the players, but it's not a LAN meant for spectators. Maybe the situation has changed with the newer hotel, but when I was there it felt kind of isolated and sterile. 15 people max watching over the players shoulders

I think CEVO might be leaning towards any LAN stuff taking place at already established events. Imagine PAX Prime/East, GXL, or an Intel LANFest with CEVO Finals taking place. The eXposure gained would be so good for the game.

It's not that ESEA's LAN (setup, etc., not really talking bout the concept of ESEA TF2 having LAN) is bad, I just think that there are more benefits to the scene to have LAN finals take place at established LANs where there are large crowds of players that are not actually playing in the finals.

CEVO isn't going to be perfect from day 1, but it sounds like they are committed to working with the community to form a league that IS gonna be what we want.

If the community supports CEVO by teams + players joining, as well as voicing our opinions on how to best structure + implement the league, it should go eXcellent.

#199 The ESEA abuse thread in TF2 General Discussion

As someone who works in the food industry, I'd like to try my hand at this particular analogy.

This whole scenario is like a Vegetarian finding out that the restaurant they have been regularly going to for the past 3 years uses Pork Lard to cook those delicious pinto beans they eat every visit. Upset about discovering they've been eating Meat the whole time, the customer tells the owner that while they'd like to continue their patronage of the restaurant, they are concerned that they were fed meat products without any indication that was the case. The reasonable Vegetarians, while upset, would like the management to clearly label what products contain meat and what products don't, so they can continue to eat at the restaurant. The owner gives them a refund on the pinto beans and tells them never to come back to their restaurant.

This is how restaurants go out of business.

clockwork is just pointing some things out about people's perspectives.

I believe that while it might take a bit, we can have a full funded community LAN eventually with qualifying teams having travel paid for. Fully funded travel and 6 trophies with no prize money would be better than the current ESEA structure in my opinion.

Let's get this thread back on track (and show some respect to St.Patrick)

http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/6805/6pct.png

St.Patrick points out that LPKane hasn't said anything of substance. LPKane responds with a 10 year ban for "Malicious Activity" and the words: "you lead the charge, friend".

St.Patrick has been in ESEA since Season 2 of TF2 and is without a doubt a storied veteran of the TF2 community. Shame on LPKane.

There should definitely still be a free UGC 6s league/divisions.

How was that a direct insult?

LPKane and ESEA are ridiculous. I just shot a ~30 min vlog about it god damn.

TL/DR: We should quit ESEA and not look back. The 2nd match between Classic MixUp and iT just might be the last ESEA match I ever cover... I don't want to give them free advertising anymore.

Thoughts on that?

I'd rather cast scrims than showcase their league.

While Infinite often makes terrible posts in public, he pales in comparison to the Evils of LPKane. Infinite is also just one of a multitude of UGC Admins, instead of a 50% co-owner.

What I'm getting at, is that UGC isn't a bad option. While I agree that perhaps something else could be formulated by the community, I think UGC should be viewed as the immediate answer.

UGC doesn't have money prizes, integrated stats, automatic STVs, or automatic demo uploading. What they do have is a very well put together website ("UGCLIVE" compiles all casts of UGC action on YouTube), schedule system, and player base. While other plans come to fruition, neXt season of 6s should be UGC.

I'm sure the admins are more than willing to accomodate an influx of Invite and IM/Main level teams. If players wanted the top division to have a pay-in and a pay-out, it could probably be accomodated.
