It would help to know a little more about what they are going to be used for (ie what genres of music, amped or not, preference of sound signature etc). For gaming I would recommend open back headphones over closed for the wider soundstage, unless you plan on using them portably (sound leak and no isolation). I also like being able to hear things around me and how loud my voice is but that just comes down to preference.

I listen to a lot of rock and prefer bright headphones so I bought a pair of grado sr80s when I was in your situation. Grados definitely aren't for everybody though and I wouldn't recommend them to you with so little information.

Medic was always the only available class in tf2lobby back in the day and I stuck with it because I suck at every other class.

Have you ticked the exclusive button in audio input settings? All I could find with a quick google search. If it's working with other programs the mic itself definitely functions. Could also try running as administrator, restarting computer (fixes when my mic lags out from mumble) or reinstalling mumble if that doesnt work.

I just tried outputting the audio to FLAC, but I can't seem to locate where the actual file is. Is the .flac file supposed to be somewhere other than the folder specified for final frames to be saved? I searched my whole PC for the file name and got nothing.

Windows 8.1 has worked fine for me as far as video goes, I guess the audio issues could be caused by it though.

I don't see any harm in adding some new maps to pug rotations (tf2mix, pug.na), worst case scenario people can rtv to another map. That would seem easier than bringing back new map only pugs

Hi all. I've been trying to record a video using srcdemo and lawena which has been going smoothly so far, however I've run into the problem of the sound files not recording (correctly at least). I've been following kirby's tutorial for the most part, but when I try to put the audio files into virtualdub it gives me this error:

Can't open "D:\Lawena\srcdemo\NewFolder\snakewater1_.wav": The file is empty.

For a couple clips the audio has worked perfectly, but for some reason the majority of the time I get this same error. I read online that it can corrupt the audio files if you don't hit deactivate at the end of recording, but it still gets the same error if I do that.
Anyone else experienced this before? If it helps I'll paste my settings for lawena and srcdemo (can't think of any other program that would affect this).

Buffer size: 1024 kilobytes
Buffer timeout: 6 seconds

Haven't had any sucess with FLAC, but WAV at least created a file that was playable but ended too early :(

Fixed by reinstalling srcdemo again, thanks for the help!

Happens to me when tabbed out of the game, alt tabbing back in usually fixes it in my case at least
