#5252 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization

The loading screen's background on my HUD gets clamped below the screen's resolution while joining a server, but I've tested a few others HUD's that manage to keep it the same.

These few had the same image as the main menu, so I'd assumed that changing it causes the bug, but when I try keeping the same background, it still gets clamped while joining servers. Is there a way to anchor it?

Once you're subscribed to that map, it gets downloaded into \download\maps\, so you just gotta move it to the \maps\ folder and use "map *map name*" in the console.

mastercomsPast the max rate of 1048576 bytes per second, you will need to set the upper limit to an effective value in order to force a higher effective rate. 1288 is the maximum packet size that can be sent in Source, so this is used to get the time needed to send a packet at a higher effective rate.

Oh, so that was the value you were referring to as max rate (never would've guessed it)... Thanks for the input! :)

I like following the reasoning for the changes, and the main reason I'm able to do that are through your comments, but you lost me at "in order to calculate your net_maxcleartime if you have an upload rate higher than the max rate, divide 1288 by your upload rate". Care to exemplify? I couldn't get to the default 4 using the values you provided.

And in a few previous iterations, the net_splitpacket_maxrate was the rate +1, then had its same value, now it's halved? For any values, we should use half the rate?

Evernote. Not only it's great for making reminders and quick notes, it's great for group projects. You can see others' shared notes and edit them on the fly, instead of having to download the document, edit and reupload it.

And as it syncs the notes on your account, you can make quick adjustments to them on your phone and access through the desktop later to do the lengthy work.

mastercomsThis is a workaround to a bug with mat_filterlightmaps and mat_filtertextures not being set properly, as discussed in the changelog.

So changing values for the same cvar throughout the config changes as it is being loaded? I thought the config weighted in the final values for each entry and then loaded accordingly.

And just a question: the default snapshots alias is _balanced, but _safe is described as the "safest option for most users". Could you elaborate on their ideal usages, please?

The same way Valve uses user generated content to release weapons, miscs, taunts, maps and even bugfixes (i.e. sigsegv and a few other heroes), they could and should use a lot of leftover/forgotten mods from Facepunch and other repositories to update weapons and player models alike. Aesthetically and optimizing poly counts. It's nice that they've started doing a house cleaning on the game's code to fix a lot of dumb/random stuff, but the game's performance has always gone downhill.

JasbuttsI was sent a photo of the lanyards today, so those and the posters and the lanyards are at ESA. All they are waiting on are the pins. From what I heard happened, most of the staff were working on the opening of the Las Vegas location and were just able to return and catch up on all of this stuff.

I saw a post somewhere that the guy had received his lanyard, so I assumed they were prioritizing NA, and EU would be a safe bet as well. Thankfully from your post I see we're all on the same boat. The lateboat. :)

While you're at it, their settings are enforced, so you can't change it. After you're done, just reexec your autoexec and it will revert to what it was.

Since Jungle Inferno, everything that goes to the background or has a layer on top of it gets a bit darker, kinda to show it's not focused. That's just how it is.
