Because I'm a terrible person without taste I like playing pubs at Skial Turbine EU. After taking a 3 month break from TF2 I returned to the server to discover we had acquired a new regular: Roger Moore

Roger is quite easy to recognize when he's in the server: He only plays heavy and always wears his trusty Ushanka.

He is completely oblivious. I don't know how he does it but he's one of the only people I've seen who is better off just idling in spawn until one of the skial bots takes control.
According to Skial's stat page he has almost 700 hours played on skial servers alone. He also claims to be 57.5 years old and has been playing TF2 for over 5 years.

He has this irrational hatred for medics. If a medic heals him he just stops playing. He will stand still for the next 10 minutes and flame the medic, go to his steam profile to report him to Valve 5 seperate times, then continue to rage in chat, then decide his team isn't doing anything and do the same for each teammate. This takes some time but he's dedicated

He will then also claim the medic is using cheats. I'm not certain why he does this but I have some theories.
I think he believes Valve owns Skial. So his logic is that a Skial admin will join the server if he reports people multiple times on their steam profile. So after reporting he thinks an admin is watching him and tries to convince the non-existant admin that the medic is cheating. Though I'm not 100% sure about the theory he often says "ok admin you can ban him now" in team chat after reporting someone so it's definitely possible.

This is also when you'll see his insult wheel of fortune appear. At first you'd think he just uses a bind script that repeats the same lines over and over but it's actually him using the same 3 or 4 insults every time. You can check out his past chat here http://stats.skial.com/#player/tf/37845687

Roger always does this in team chat so usually you don't notice if you're on the other team. I often forget he's on the server because he just sits in the enemy spawn and emerges from spawn to walk into a stickytrap every 10 minutes or so after which he disappears in spawn again to report his teammates.

Obviously Roger harassing other players usually results in them harassing him back. And it didn't take long for people to figure out the easiest way to do that is going medic. You'll usually see Roger sitting in spawn writing his reports to Valve with 1 to 3 medics healing him.

There's some people who are really bullying him now which is kind of sad because I'm convinced he has some sort of mental handicap. They're really just cyberbullying some random mentally handicapped guy who just wants to play videogames and doesn't know any better.

I've ignored him for the most part but despite this he thinks I (and many others) on the server cheat just to annoy him. he even went as far as calling some of us worse than the medics healing him. I can only assume this means he truly truly hates me.

Roger's not just weird imo. He's also interesting in a way.
He's not doing any actual harm. His reports do nothing and if you ignore his constant rage in team chat it's like he's not even there because he rarely plays the game anyway. In a way it's nice to have him around as some sort of server mascot.
If you ever happen to be in Skial EU Turbine give Roger a friendly nod as you walk past him and his medics in spawn :)

edit: also on the subject of Anarki: definitely looks like Anarki will be the meta simply because of the movement. If the voice acting gets annoying I'm certain there will be a dialogue volume option which you can turn off

Imo they're not that cringy. He makes the titles knowing the context for it is completely lost on 99% of people. At times he even tries to deliberately find the weirdest lyrics to use out of context (some of which you can find in this thread). I find it quite entertaining

The VA is Greg Baldwin. He voiced Aku before in 2009 for a Samurai Jack video game and also was the voice actor for Iroh in the final season of Avatar:TLA and Legend of Korra. It might not be perfect but at least they hired someone with experience in immitating Mako's work

I don't mind it but then again I grew up with the Dutch dub and only started watching the old seasons in English again when S5 was announced. I prefer this over the original plan at least which was finding an entirely new voice for Aku. They talk about it a bit in this video:

he forgot to mention the part where 90% of the community can't play comp mode with over 20 fps and everyone that can still doesn't feel good about cutting their fps in half. TF2 is a free game. Most TF2 players don't have a gaming pc. Most of them are just kids who play on their mom's laptops.
I'd say that's the biggest reason people don't want to play comp. The obvious solution is removing the forced graphics. Would increase the playerbase for comp by a lot. i'd definitely play it more often.
Having to carry fresh meat isn't really a problem as long as the other team are pubbers. The lack of class restrictions only really gets abused with 4-stacks or more on one team but you'll often lose to a stack regardless of their comp anyway if you're solo or duo queueing

Driver support for dx8 is being dropped lately which causes this. Which is why reverting recent updates fixes the problem. In the long run you might have to switch to dx9 and update drivers again if it causes issues for other games but for now you'll be fine

This does not work for the detonator and scorch shot since those do not have a seperate weapon text file and are just considered regular Flareguns. You can do it for the cow mangler though

step 1:
download for all the default weapon text files
You'll see these are the same text files you also have in the Scripts folder of the config

step 2:
the cow mangler's weapon txt file is tf_weapon_particle_cannon.txt
extract somewhere and open it in notepad (I recommend downloading notepad++ for some quality of life)
find //buckets at line 30

step 3:
go to Scripts where your already working txt files are. Open one with the explosions you want the cow mangler to have and also find //buckets

step 4:
Inside the buckets paragraph you'll find something like this

That's what you'll see in tf_weapon_particle_cannon.txt. But those aren't the explosions you want.
So go into the other file that has the right explosions and just copy paste those over in the cow mangler's file.
For example I use

Then just make sure you save the cow mangler file and put it in the Scripts folder where the other txt files are

If you downloaded the txt files:
tf > Custom > anyname > Scripts > txt files

If you downloaded the vpk files:
tf > Custom > vpk file

The trailer is used to showcase the game's art style. Not the movement.
There's a reason why the enemies just run in straight lines. They need some brainless gameplay to catch the attenion of new players. They won't be interested if it's people bunnyhopping around the map at max speed. They won't even know what's going on.
99% of all gameplay trailers are like this. Get people to run in straight lines, pretend it's gameplay while it's actually just showcasing the art.

You'll know what the movement is like when the closed beta is out. No point in complaining about something from watching pseudo gameplay
