tambolooking to watch/kinda cast matches tonight, anyone have suggestions?

Guess it depends on if you care about playoff implications or just want to watch the best possible match.

popo / Omni5 is probably the best to cast for highest skill level between the 2 teams.

If you are interested in playoff bubble matches that matter:

BLANC vs We Love Randall -- BLANC loss and we are out of playoffs, a win and we are in playoffs. Randall needs to win to have any chance of playoffs but could still miss.
EDIT: actually after doing some number crunching between 9-7 teams, I think this one is all or nothing for both teams, the winner of this match tonight will almost assuredly make the playoffs.

Salty Seamen vs dead team walking -- Jag's team likely locks up a playoff spot with a win in this match.

Pancake-Waffle-Rifle vs Frick Esports -- PWR still have a chance for playoffs but need to pull off a big upset here and win all 5 rounds for a shot. Frick eSports is already in playoffs and locked into the 11th seed, they are playing strictly for fun in this one.

MAD LUX vs Milan effect -- The only chance for Milan effect to make playoffs is to win this match or the match against OMNI5. Might be interesting and fun to watch the attempt.

If anyone is looking to cast any matches with playoff implications, here are the choices for tonight:

Salty Seamen vs Undecided Team Name

Both teams are in the exact same position. 7-7 with 40 rounds. The winner of this game will likely win their final match and go 9-7 with a really solid chance at 15th or 16th spot.
This match, above all others listed, does the most for playoff implications tonight. Jag's team is the clear pick to win but who knows on Badlands.

OK Kids vs clout up

OK Kids cannot make playoffs but clout up is right in the thick of 15th or 16th. Clout up needs to win every single game left and secure max rounds for any playoff chance. Could be a good match to watch.

Alcohol Anonymous vs StarStruck Gaming

Starstruck cannot make playoffs but AA has a very small chance to make 16th place if they get a lot of help from other match results. Either way, AA need to win this match to go 9-7 and have any chance at all.

These teams all make playoffs already, but they are better quality match-ups for casting IMO.

LWUMMD vs MAD LUX

LWUMMD is in playoffs and MAD LUX could lock up their spot with a win. I expect this match to be very competitive and will clear up a lot of playoff placement once we have a winner.

IWHBYD vs Faint Gaming Blue

Most likely the best / most competitive match of the bunch. Both of these teams should qualify for playoffs regardless of the outcome of this match but some seeding questions could be answered depending on the outcome.

kiaAfter matches won/lost, is seeding based purely on rounds for, or is it the ratio of your rounds for to your rounds against?

According to the posted rules:

Overall record then by
Head to head record then by
Highest amount of regulation rounds won
Single map playoff if all other tie breaker scenarios are indecisive

There is a grey area in these tie-breaker rules because of the small size of the TF2 divisions. Head to head tie-breakers typically only come into play when only 2 teams have the same record. When 3 or more teams have the same record (like this season's 9-7 teams will) the Head 2 Head records cannot advance 1 team ahead of all teams that have the same record because it is extremely unlikely all the tied teams played a round robin against each other.

example with only 1 playoff spot remaining:

Team A, B C and D are all 9-7
Team A beat Team C --- Team B beat Team A --- Team D did not play A B or C
Who advances? No team has a clear advantage over the other 3 teams, so Head to Head is bypassed just about every season because of this scenario.

In these cases, since Head to Head is indecisive, the only way to do the tie-breaker fairly is to skip Head to Head and go right for Rounds Won because that stat is universal for all teams.

Fragile, do you know if the guys from SLOTH eSports are going to here there with a table this year?

The mouse pads they were selling are the most durable and best I have ever had. I would have bought a 2nd one if I caught them before they left last time.

4812622SpaceCadetAny chance we can get video cameras this time around for Investigation? Someone lost a mouse pad last time they were in this venue and someone else picked it up and kept it. That mother fucker is already in this thread

oh and CU@

What mousepad? I picked one up in the driveway because I thought it was mine, but I actually left mine in the hotel. Whoever lost it can PM me the model I'll bring it for them.

I missed this post a few weeks ago. I'm not actually mad just in-case anyone was wondering, its more of a joke now anyways. The mousepad was very thin, a large black steelseries. You can keep it if that's the one u have, but it was probably mine. :)

MilanThey had to win 2 of the 3 games (including this current one which they just did) and none of the teams they're facing are low open. Note: I rang for frick e-sport on med and they held well against popo's team in scrims so I was expecting them to win.

I pretty much said everything here already. http://www.teamfortress.tv/44539/s26-open-playoff-picture-bubble-teams#2

MilanSpaceCadetSpaceGhostsCoffeeThere's a ton of matches going on at the same time tonight, which ones are the juicy ones, preferably with playoff implications
https://puu.sh/ymgwH/af533eb239.png

OK kids need to win or they are out of playoffs
we love randall needs to win or they are out of playoffs
BLANC needs to win or we are out of playoffs

that's 3 matches to choose from
but

faint gaming blue vs frick esports might be the best game to watch / cast. both teams just fighting for playoff seeding

faint gaming isn't fighting for seeding tho, they're currently ranked 17th and still have to play two teams. There's a good chance they won't make playoffs.

The chance of them making playoffs is better than average, they play an unknown team to makeup a match so they could get some low open team and get an easy 9th win. If they win tonight,. it would make 10. I'm not sure what you are basing their bad chances on.

hayesthe tiebreakers for the teams are pretty interesting, too. notably, it's possible that Frick eSports could earn as high as a #6 seed, MLX could nab a really high seed too. cool write up

I've learned from many past season to not even try and figure tie-breakers out until all matches are complete or you will lose your mind.

Also remember that in a lot of cases, ESEA has to discard the H2H tie-breakers in favor of rounds won. There were several seasons where H2H win and losses did not solve the seeding problem between 3 or more teams with even records. Sometimes those 3+ teams don't play each other in the regular season and the tie-breaking rules go around in a circle giving no team an advantage over all teams they are tied with. Even typing this sounds confusing, but it happens and will likely happen this season as well with the 9-7 teams. "Rounds For" will likely determine who makes playoffs more than H2H for the 9-7 teams this season.

-Phantom-i thought you had to get 10-6 to be a qualifier for playoffs? that's what it was last season. So teams that are 9-7 can still make it?

10-6 and better is an automatic qualifier this season. Most 9-7 teams will make it, but it really depends on who wins some key matches. In all likelihood, some 9-7 teams will not make the playoffs if they have low Rounds Won.

#2 S26 Open Playoff Picture / Bubble Teams in TF2 General Discussion

This final group of 8 teams are close to playoffs and most are on the outside looking in at the moment. Several match upsets need to happen inside this group for more than 1 or 2 of them to qualify for playoffs.

8-7 ---- Pancake-Waffle-Rifle --- An under the radar team that has played really well at the end of this season. A heartbreaking loss to Salty Seamen last night has really thrown their playoff chances to the wind. Both BLANC Esports and Frick eSports will be strong challenges for this squad but neither are beyond their ability to defeat. They need at least 1 upset win this week to have a chance.

8-7 ---- OK Kids --- I have to be honest, I don't know much about this team but looking at match results shows they have pulled rounds off some decent teams. They should get an easy 8th win against delicious activity but the match against clout up looks to be tight. If they pull out 2 wins and go 9-7, it will really throw a lot of playoff seeding into question.

8-7 ---- Salty Seamen --- This season has been up and down for these guys. Their record isn't a completely accurate reflection of how good they are. Their 4-3 win last night over Pancake-Waffle-Rifle may have saved the season and playoffs. I can see them easily securing an 8th win but the match against Undecided Team Name will be tight and could determine if they make playoffs at 9-7 or not.

7-8 ---- Slicerogue is a trashcan --- These guys could finish 8-8 if they beat Undecided Team Name. Either way they are likely out of the playoffs unless they get a lot of help from other teams but there is a small % chance.

7-8 ---- Undecided Team Name --- Another team that could finish 8-8 if they can beat Slicerogue is a trashcan. It should be a really good matchup between these two teams. There is an outside chance of this team finishing 9-7 if they can beat Slicerogue and then upset Salty Seamen on Badlands. I don't see both happening but I suppose it is possible for them to sneak into playoffs.

7-7 ---- We Love Randall --- This team faces a difficult playoff situation. They should secure a 7th win against dead team walking but BLANC Esports will be the big match. Even if they win both Badlands matches, they will be at the mercy of ESEA scheduling because they did not have a 2nd GRANARY match. Several solid teams are also missing matches so Randall needs to completely win out their final 3 matches for any playoff chance.

7-7 ---- clout up --- I think this team has under performed this season and should be sporting a better record considering the schedule they have been given. They have a bleak playoff situation ahead but should get an easy win over Big Win E-Sports. The match against OK Kids will be a lot more difficult and is a must-win. However, even with those two wins, they are missing a match on GRANARY so, depending on who they get scheduled against, it could be possible for a 9-7 finish but I don't think it's likely.

6-6 ---- Faint Gaming Blue --- I made Faint the final team on the list because they are in a unique situation. First off, they have 3 tough matches ahead against BLANC Esports, Frick eSports and IWHBYD. In all honesty, each of these 3 matches is too close to call. Secondly, they are missing a match on VIADUCT so I have no idea who they will play in their make-up game. From looking at the list of teams that are short a match, it could easily be against another competitive team and another too close to call match-up. Faint Gaming Blue has the talent to win out every remaining match and go 10-6.

I don't think they will run the table like that but each match will likely impact the whole bottom half of the playoff team positioning.
