mastercomsWhat are your launch options? Also, keep in mind that the net_graph reduces your FPS. A less intensive option for measuring FPS would be cl_showfps 1.

go into yr sound folder in tf2 and delete sound.cache
whenever i start dropping frames I do that and it seems to fix it for some reason

Infinity_I know a few people that have similar parts to yours, and their game runs like shit in dx8 but amazingly in dx9
On my crappy PC TF2 would run better on dx8. I use dx95 on this pc and it’s much better.
SnackDapperTrapperSadly, TF2 doesn't really cooperate with High end PC partsYou didn't mention what settings you're using, but with newer hardware you're actually better off running your TF2 at max settings as opposed to using an FPS config.since max settings will put some of the load off your CPU and onto your GPU.

hi. i've been getting lower fps recently. it's been happening in scrims, matches, mge, dm, casual, you name it. i wouldn't consider it fps drops, but rather lower fps in general.

this pc is very new. i've read about performance problems in casual recently, with random drops. this has been happening to me as well. only casual, though.
as a side note: i have checked for overheating problems, and the parts retain a low temperature.

tf2 is having a hard time updating today for reasons i cannot explain. i've waited about 30 minutes for an update that's only 14.2 MB only to have it corrupted.
why?

TheMackey5Have you checked the temperatures of your system/CPU/GPU? I had similar problems due to overheating.
Also try to observe task manager / resource monitor to check if there might be external programs causing high cpu usage or sth like that.
I have checked. temperatures are usually around 60 which isn't high. i am using a brand new build with barely anything on it except a few games, which increases my confusion
so this may just be tf2, but from time to time tf2 keeps dropping fps from around 250 to 0 seemingly out of nowhere. this happens for only a second.
another prime example of this happening would be in mge. i was playing endif yesterday and every time i was to die, tf2 would freeze the way i stated earlier when i was respawning.
also this happens in l4d2 from time to time but not as frequently

After upgrading to a 1070 and high i5, I find myself getting more fps with higher detailed graphics. I sorta knew this would happen, but does TF2 actually stress more on the GPU when the graphics are set to a higher quality? I pretty much thought TF2 didn't give a shit about your GPU until I upgraded.
