#2172 PC Build Thread in Hardware

Why did you stop using your soundcard?
That mobo uses a fairly bad onboard sound chip. Fairly bad by onboard sound standards, which are terrible.

If you want to build asap then you can preorder it to circumvent any price hikes when stocks run low.
What for some motherboard reviews though.

8 cores next week, rest later, officially "Q2", no exact date yet.
330$ for 8 cores/16 threads instead of getting 4 cores/8 threads for 312$ or 8 cores/16 threads for just 1089$ is kind of a big deal.

So monitor and peripherals do not count towards the budget?
When are you looking to build it? (Zeeeeeeeen)
Overclocking yes/no?

I guessed your nationality already from the context. :D

Excellent, otherwise I probably would've went with AMD and then someone would've complained.
ECC isn't quite confirmed yet (but it has never been not supported) and I'm not sure which mobos support it (probably not all will) so I've got some research to do, but thankfully there'll be reviews soon.

You picked the 650W, not me. ;-)
I've suggested two 550W, should still be enough even with the big Vega.
850 Pro now, not 850 Evo?

I think you're confusing the NEX and the G2. Both 80+ Gold, one is old and mediocre, one is fairly new and one of the best.

Something cheaper would do fine too though.

The SSD Plus is a budget SSD, so it's fairly slow.
The 850 Evo is quite a bit faster than the MX300, so at the same price the MX300 isn't worth it.
Another option would be the SL308. http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=SKHFS250G&c=CJ

Do you plan on buying another 16GB stick though? AMD hasn't share some specific details yet and I obviously couldn't benchmark it yet, but Zen will probably suffer a bit with single channel.

#2158
Did you change your flag just because I complained?

Well if you already knew exactly which parts you want/need, you wouldn't be here asking for help so I don't mind.

I forgot about ECC. That's most likely an option as well, at least AMD has never locked it before.
So apart from asking around a bit if anyone really needs CUDA or DP ask them about ECC as well. I'd go for ECC, just in case.

There's too many fake flags around here, so I've got to ask: In which country are you actually going to buy the parts?
If you're actually in the Philippines I'll need a link to a shop, or even better to a price comparision site.

I'm guessing it's not urgent, so I'd wait a bit for the Zen 6 and 4 core CPUs.

What fps/settings/resolution are you going for?
Do you need peripherals? Monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc.?

#2155
And now you see why I told you to wait. Twice the cores for 330$ is quite a difference.
It's still a week until the actual release so pcpartpicker doesn't have mobos listed yet and it wouldn't make a difference anyway.

And yes, the 1700 was what I planned to go with anyway, once you said you want multitasking and multiple VMs.
Now you probably don't need a high end GPU for light gaming, but any particular minimum requirements for software with GPU acceleration? Do you need/want CUDA? Double precision?

Oh and just so you know: Siemens is planning on upgrading a lot of their systems. Guess what they are upgrading to. Sweet, sweet Zen optimizations coming for Siemens NX.

Well not exactly, you can still deal with 2 snipers on viaduct (if you don't have a huntsman sniper and an engineer), but the likelihood of successful last pushes decreased by about the same as from i49 meta to Se7en meta.

Imagine Se7en holding last with 2 snipers allowed.
We'd be able to see the round time run out twice on a single map.

sacSetsulEM Drive was still HYPE, last time I checked.
With 7 candidates this is one of the best options for colonization. Might not live enough to see it happen though.

Should be <4x10^12 ms, so it's fine.
neh EM drive is debunked dude they tested it on a few different places the chinese are going to launch one up in space and test it there and then it can be finally put to rest.

I think announcing that they want to upgrade as many satellites to EM drive as soon as possible doesn't make a whole lot of sense if they don't believe it works.

So far results of experiments:
NWPU: Test says yes, but they are not sure because of noise.
Eagleworks: Test says yes, but they are not sure because of noise and other reasons.
TUD: Test said yes in two configurations, but there was a ton of noise in the third so they are not sure anymore.

That's why everyone wants to test it in space.

Knowing what you're calling to call a product and actually getting it to work are two very different things though.

The PG258Q uses the better version of that panel. On the AOC AGON AG251FZ and BenQ XL2540 it's far worse. No idea about the Acer.

I'd wait until AUO releases 27" 240Hz panels. They are planning to and these 24.5" panels are just bullshit.
G2G higher than the refresh time unless you use ridiculous amounts of overdrive just doesn't make any sense.

I mean do you really think the came up with 24.5" specifically for 240Hz monitors? These are cut up 6 bit + FRC garbage tier 49" 4K TN panels that just happen to be about as fast as 144 Hz panels. They have no business being sold as 240 Hz.

All mobos and 8 core CPUs are up for preorder at every proper retailer.
Actual availability 8 days from now, March 2nd.
6 core and 4 core CPUs probably sometime in March as well.
