14thEagleIs it going to be free? Is it going to have divisions in other regions besides NA?
Cups will always be free, and we are still in the process of deciding which regions we want to support but I will let everyone know when I've got more information.
Hi all,
I thought I should just provide a quick update so people don't feel in the dark. We're still waiting to start plans for next year but hope that we should have some more news out by early February if all goes smoothly.
ESL's only complication at the moment is that the feedback you gave in the polls were things that ESL cannot provide straight off the bats. Thing's such as major prize pools and Pro LAN events, these things can't just fall from the sky and cannot be provided unless we have a strong player base in ESL Play cups.
Referencing the ESL structure, we have to start from square one (ESL Open), which means there may be little to no prize pool in events. The admin team will do their best to provide something with what they have (medals or other such things). This may sound bad at first but if the community commits to playing in the cups, we can move our way up to the ESL Major stage which ensures prize pools and a possible league and so forth.
On a more positive note, we're looking for staff to come onboard with ESL to get this kickstarted! If you have an interest in assisting us in making ESL TF2 happen feel free to apply. When signing up, type in Team Fortress 2 in the new game/mod section.
I hope we're all on the same page so we can go ahead with this, it's going to be an exciting 2019!

Tune into CappingTV's Intermediate coverage of League of Super Evil vs. ad hominem attack for the Upper Page Playoffs!
Due to unforeseen reasons, the cast could not go live. We apologise for the inconvenience.
sage_I don't want to be a dick because I think more casts the better especially with tflive being fairly absent this season, and I think those willing to cast and produce in the first place are legends, but surely there are other players in ozfortress to cast these matches.
Having open players cast higher divisions (even up to prem) can be fine aslong as they can keep the stream engaging but 9/10 of the casts are just dead air with small interjections when teams are pushing. If you are hosting players who can't offer an insight on the game or keep the stream interesting you are better off streaming the game without casters, because as it stands (and this isn't exaggeration) most people are just muting the stream to watch the match as the cast literally takes away from the experience.
I know CappingTV is at odds with some in the community but I refuse to believe this is the best you guys can do.
:) Thank you for your feedback, I do agree that some of our casters of the late have been lacking the enthusiasm. However, our casters are new and we've been using this season to teach them the ropes and bring them up to top standards for next year.
Tune into CappingTV's Intermediate coverage of sskaz vs. Winx Club for the Lower Page Playoffs!
This match will be casted by Sassy and FluroscentBrown with Left on Production. Live at 9pm AEDT (5 hours from this post)

Wandumwhat regions will you be covering? all of them or just au?
Today's show will be mainly featuring AU related topics, we will however have a few other things though like Prolands last captime change and a Review of Logjam. There will also be a chance to ask the guests some questions!
Maybe in the future we will begin to roll in different regions, if anyone's interested drop me a message :)
The broadcast was cancelled due to STV issues, sorry guys.
Edit: Here's a POV stream from xeno player Sean: https://www.twitch.tv/sean666_
lucrativeRealistically Mitch, what Tf2 needs is more LAN events, what we should be asking is what does the tf2 community need to do in order for you guys to organize one (I think a Chicago LAN would have insane turn out)
ESL of course run big events like ESL One and the Intel Extreme Masters, but they run through sponsorships.
Sponsorships are based on the amount of participants in the semi-professional scene. I can't give you numbers but we would need more teams than the whole of ESEA TF2 League. So basically, just come and play ESL!
torrit2if you do this ill hit the whip AND the nae nae on stream
Can't wait, send us a gif :)
LkSare there any concrete dates on when this might be an actual thing?
No exact dates yet, the team has still got lots of planning and talking to do. So I'd be expecting something like Jan/Feb 2019 as we're reaching the end of the year.
ShearsAs others in this thread have said,
for NA TF2, this would not create a new league, but would just be the modification of ESEA (quite possibly leading to better support?).
I probably should've mentioned this, we have no control over ESEA even though they're under the ESL brand. At this stage we haven't looked that far ahead but will discuss with everyone when information about a league is made available.
Edit:
blAstrosorry this was made in 2015 when eSports was the correct term :~)Mitch_https://cdn.eslgaming.com/misc/media/cm/structure.jpg

sorry redeye
Hi all,
I would like to thank everyone who voted, this was a very quick process and showed that we had a lot of support for this. ESL loved how passionate the community is for the game!
Before we can move forward, I am going to cover somethings so the community understands how ESL Play and TF2 will work and to go over the structure.
https://cdn.eslgaming.com/misc/media/cm/structure.jpg
ESL's structure is based on participation. The more participants we see, the more we can offer to Team Fortress 2.
As the image shows, we will start at the bottom with ESL Open Cups, and progress all the way up to ESL Pro Events! This may seem a bit overwhelming but with community support this is achievable.
For ESL to progress us up to those levels, we need to increase the support for ESL Play. The more participants we have in tournaments, the more we can do such as Leagues and begin to roll in higher prize pools. But the keyword here is community, and ESL will be trying there best to support us and communicate to us regularly.
ESL Play Admins are watching this thread and will answer questions if they desire. Thanks everyone who has helped TF2 in anyway, lets hope we can make something good out of this.
