#2 lag spikes because of net settings(?) in Q/A Help

Check task manager and make sure there isnt a funny process using your network resources.

Also credus network settings might not be optimal anymore as you cant go under 15.2ms lerp anymore

#15 Jittery game in Q/A Help
JojoIt seems like maybe your fps is too high. Tf2 get's pretty fucky once you get to really high fps. Try limiting it to something like 300(or the classic double your monitor plus 1 if you like).

For Nick this is pretty likely since it's easy to get high fps on mge servers. Jump servers were how I discovered this.

I highly doubt he is getting 1000+ fps on a 4v4 dm server, unless hes hugging the wall. but yeah try capping fps_max to 1000 and see if things are better.

#15 out of memory crash in TF2 General Discussion
kolingKZkolingTonight I monitored my CPU after I crashed (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/743079186842910801/770972242221596672/122942328_707427173202272_3757614574066644323_n.png). I even switched to dx81, updated my GPU drivers (I was not crashing with the previous one and I didnt update my GPU drivers for like 6 months), verified the game chache, deleted soundchache and nothing has worked.

Any other suggestions?

Try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhyLH9rO9VQ&ab_channel=Mike%27sunboxing%2Creviewsandhowto
It clears your stand by list depending on the parameters you set.

You could use ISLC which does the same thing but is easier to use with a GUI.
I would recommend setting max value to half your ram size and initial size to be about 300 MB.
Tobhad it once 2 days ago
removed all "vpk.sound.cache" files in Custom
haven't gotten it since
this came from some random steam forum post

Can't be 100% sure if this is the correct fix. The crash only happened to me once and 2 days isn't a long time to say with full certainty the crashes are gone

I have no clue why a sound cache file would have any effect on a texture quality crash. However there is no harm in trying it. All custom vpk.sound.cache files rebuild themselves by launching the game so you get all the deleted ones back

not sure which one fixed it but you guys managed to fix the error. Thank you!

Try turning off ISLC and see if the problem still exists. Will be helpful in the future for people having the same problem

#2142 mastercomfig - fps/customization config in Customization
alfaI have not updated in about a year and a half, will I notice major improvements if I do now? The only reason I'm reluctant to do so is because the last time I tried to, the update wiped all of my settings (binds, launch options, etc)

I like it, I see tangible improvements in fps and an overall better experience. What I don't like is the net_hitscan for scout and sniper. so I put net_projectiles for those classes (15.2ms lerp). Make sure you backup everything in case you want to revert.

#12 How I made TF2 run beautifully in Hardware

This is a pretty informative video on input lag, frame limiters, vsync etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZRuFaFZh5M

Also if use CRU at your own risk, if your monitor has display scaling mode then you can definitely benefit from it. If you have a laptop do not use it under any circumstance.

#9 How I made TF2 run beautifully in Hardware
scratchhIm pretty skeptical about lowering my refresh rate in any way after reading this stuff, but I think most people would be anyway as usually people div2+ arent gonna bother for the looks and would rather the best performance even if tf2 looks like a game from 1998

There is definitely a slight trade-off here, if you are willing to increase a couple of milliseconds worth of delay 3-5 which isnt really noticeable for a smoother experience of the game, id recommend trying it.

#6 How I made TF2 run beautifully in Hardware

I mean even though the ingame fps limiter cant get you perfect frame time, it will get you the lowest input delay. I have tried capping fps like this, but the input delay is definitely there. Although the game is definitely smooth and jitter-free after you do this.

P.S. I still have slight tearing with this method (on laptop lol)
