#11 New Computer Issue in Hardware

Ok, ill check on those.

I posted this on a pchelp forum and one of the guys simply stated that the minimum wattage for my gpu was 500, as seen at the bottom of the page here, I went into catalyst and reduced the clock rate a bit (i think) and everything ran stable tonight for a few hours.

wrechedddddtry removing the GPU and seeing if the unit boots.

Did this and it all booted up. Weird because it was running ok for a week or so.

What are my options now? replace psu and/or different graphics card?

Also wondering why this didn't pop up on any of the websites I checked on? all of them said this was compatible

EDIT: So I just unplugged and plugged everything back into place including graphics card and its all booted up fine and is working so far. Also BIOS is at 2.10

#7 New Computer Issue in Hardware

I would do the BIOS update but

Hyperi0nRight now when I try and power up the computer only the graphics card and hard drive turn on (edit 2)

thinking of taking this round to the local pc and seeing what they can do about it

ill open up the case tonight and see if any cables are loose ect.
almost certain this has something to do with graphics card now.

Found a photo of the adapter that one of my gpu inputs has to go through here

Because I couldn't fit them both on with one cable. I dont think my psu even came with two 6 pin connectors.

My graphics card also requires two 6 pin inputs and I only had one 6 pin cable, this meant I had to use a molex to 6 pin adapter for the second input.

Right now when I try and power up the computer only the graphics card and hard drive turn on (edit 2), might be something faulty with psu?

(i'll open up my case tomorrow and take some photos so all this is clearer)

#1 New Computer Issue in Hardware

So I built a computer about a week ago and a problem has occurred in the past few days where my fans (all of them?) suddenly go too 100% speed, my monitor stops receiving a signal and I get the click-click-click noise in my headphones. I have monitored my cpu and gpu temperatures and they are both stable. This has happened 3 times so far, twice when playing tf2 and once in csgo, It usually happens around 30 mins to an hour of playtime which is unusual because I played 3 or 4 hours straight on Sunday with no trouble whatsoever. The only cause I can think of is that during the build there weren't enough 6-pin ports for the graphic card because I had to use 2 for the hard drive and ssd. This means that one of the graphics card power slot is supplied through a 2 molex to a 6 pin adapter but I'm not how that could lead to this problem.
Any help is very much appreciated.

EDIT: Both games are maxed at 121 frames.

EDIT 2: So I was in game for at least 2 hours tonight and then with no reason the computer crashed, i could hear a fan whirring inside so i opened it up and it was the graphics card. When I try to restart, the only 2 things that power up are the graphics card and the hard drive.

#140 My FPS config in Customization

I did what voldymort did and also got quite a bit of input lag. I think that if you have a dual-core cpu stick with chris' until an updated dual-core cpu config comes out.

Thanks a ton mate :)

I will confidently take your word for the CPU, it seems that you know a ton about them, also thanks for measuring the drive bays as I would have had to wait till I actually had the parts to see if it would work.

Hopefully you'll see this build in the "post your setup" thread by this weekend!

This looks great thanks man!

Just a few questions. I thought that the Xeons were for running servers? I read up at saw that they can run games well as well but i was wondering if it were that much of a step up from the i5-4590 considering there is a $80 price difference?

Changed the case to a fractal design core 1000 because the port orientation suits my setup well and i like the aesthetic look of it compared to the CM. The graphics card is 10mm to long for the case but should that be a major problem?

Looks like ill be making one trip to CPL for the keyboard and case.

(Please click the whole build link because I selected pccaesgear as only merchant it has left a few things out, also all of this is $1314 at pccagegear)

All from pccasegear save a few parts because they are local and a couple dollars more on a few parts doesn't bother me if its all in one pickup. My budget is $1300 max, the reason the build is cheaper is because I haven't included the operating system yet (looking to see if i can get it cheaper elsewhere).
Mind you I've been playing on a laptop for 2 years so no matter what i get it will be an upgrade, i just want it to be the right upgrade.
Still contemplating which case to get between corsair 200R and the bf shadow.
Switched the ssd to a corsair force LX which is much more pricey(not sure if any better?)
