#20 Expectations on beginner medics in TF2 General Discussion
StylaxThe mixes are pretty good from what I have heard and good players get involved to help new players. Give them a try.

That is true, Newbie Mixes are probably the best way of practicing in a friendly and constructive environment. At the moment, there are no coaches or well publicised since I am a bit preoccupied with University Finals. During the Summer I do aim to grow them into a self-sufficient service. However, I do host them still and they are usually quite fun. Check out all the information in the ETF2L Discord and the Newbie Mixes Match Guide if you are interested in taking part.

#115 i63 Confirmed in TF2 General Discussion

Just a quick heads up for those who don't know, i63 will be taking place on the August Bank Holiday Weekend. That means that it will be the 24th - 27th August. Bear that in mind when booking travel and accommodation.

#144 nerf pyro in TF2 General Discussion
twiggy I don't get how fighting pyro frustrates you so much more than fighting scouts or snipers

Because when I get a kill as Pyro or get killed by a Pyro, I don't feel like the kill was earned. Every class is rewarded for having good aim, game sense and movement. You can die to a Scout faster than you can to a pyro, yes, but the Scout requires consistently good aim to achieve that. Pyro gives little benefit for near-perfect tracking outside of a damage boost to cranking your sens up 4x and just flailing your mouse at the enemy. Alongside that, Pyro's most controversial secondaries (in my opinion), the Detonator and Scorch Shot, allow Pyro to directly negate his biggest weakness by giving them the ability to set multiple people on fire from any range whilst also being very forgiving.

Pyro was designed to be the class for players who weren't good at FPS to be able to have a significant impact back when the Game was primarily focused on being casual. Now that the development team's focus has shifted to bridging the Competitive/Casual gap, and the fact that the overall player base has become more accustomed to the FPS genre, Pyro needs to change to allow players that have better mechanics and game sense to be significantly rewarded and players who don't need to gain any benefits, much like the other classes are.

I see no issue with this. This is totally a fair and balanced class that takes a tremendous amount of skill to pull off. Anyone that dies to this simply doesn't understand the large IQ plays that the Pyro requires.

#3 ETF2L Newbie Mixes in TF2 General Discussion

I'm bumping this thread since I will be looking over the Coach applications over the forthcoming days and will begin to contact those who fit what we are looking for. I don't expect Coaches to be there for the whole 3 hours that the mixes take place since that would be ridiculous, but just attending 1 mix a week would be a huge benefit. Not only to myself so I don't have to coach with my limited knowledge, but also the players that attend these mixes so they get the most out of the experience.

#1 ETF2L Newbie Mixes in TF2 General Discussion

Hello everyone, so if you were not aware I have been 'running' the Newbie Mixes in Europe for around 4-5 months now. For the longest time, they were your average run-of-the-mill mix with the only thing separating them from your typical mix was the fact that it was orientated towards New Players. Originally these Mixes were hosted by Hildreth, however other commitments meant that he could no longer dedicate time towards it. Since then I have been working to improve the overall experience and bring the format closer to what the Newbie Mixes in NA are like.

Having recently become a full League Admin for ETF2L, I believe it is now a good time to finally start getting other people on board and getting the Mixes in a state where they are ready to be promoted to the Casual player base. If you are interested in helping the Newbie Mixes, there are a variety of ways you can do so.

We are in need of Coaches and Mix Admins. In an ideal world, we would have a coach assigned to each drafted team to spectate the players and provide feedback on how each player could improve. Alongside that, it would be nice to have a few players as Mix Admins, watching the matches and ensuring that things go smoothly and that everyone has a good time.

Mixes are every Saturday at 20 CET and are announced on the ETF2L Discord.
If you have any questions please send me a message on discord or here.

#1 Announcing ETF2L Season 29 in TF2 General Discussion

ETF2L News Post

Signups are now open for ETF2L Season 29 until 26th of January at 21 CET. Premiership signups close on the 21st of January at 21 CET.

The whitelist used for this season will be published after our Global Whitelist Test Cup has been wrapped up in order to establish which of the weapons tested will be allowed in the season.

Reckoner will not be played in Season 29 anymore, as the map was seen as a new project that we had taken into our map pool for the purpose to improve it further on with community feedback. However, it had not seen many changes nor updates towards the past seasons that it was played in the league. While in the newest version of the map changes have been implemented, they’ve not been received positively in the off-season, thus leading us to the decision of not choosing the map for Season 29 anymore.

However, with Reckoner going out, we are bringing back Granary for more diversity to the map pool, as the map is less Scout-centered and still retained its original popularity from when we removed it. We couldn’t separate ourselves from Granary for too long anyway. So the Map Pool for Season 29 will be:

Map Rotation is as follows:

  • Week 1: cp_process_final & cp_prolands_b3b
  • Week 2: cp_prolands_b3b & cp_granary_pro_rc8
  • Week 3: cp_granary_pro_rc8 & cp_gullywash_final1
  • Week 4: cp_gullywash_final1 & koth_product_rc8
  • Week 5: koth_product_rc8 & cp_snakewater_final1
  • Week 6: cp_snakewater_final1 & cp_sunshine
  • Week 7: cp_sunshine & cp_process_final

Season Schedule:

  • Signups: January 9th – January 26th, 21:00 CEST (Premiership signups will close early, on the 21st of January at 21:00 CEST)
  • Publishing of Provisional Divisions: January 26th
  • Publishing of Final Divisions: January 27th
  • Pre-Season Premiership Qualifiers: January 21th – 26th
  • Main Season: January 28th – March 16th (7 Weeks)
  • High/Mid/Open Playoffs: March 18th – April 8th
  • Premiership Finals: April 1st

Further Information including Sign-up details, Prizepools, and playoffs can be found in the main post.

#3 ESU LAN Accommodation Thread in LAN Discussion
Streep36Sleeping at the venue is free right? Why not do that?

As far as I know, no Prices or information about that has been announced apart it being a thing unless I completely missed it. Also, I would like to avoid bringing any extra luggage with me on my flight.

#1 ESU LAN Accommodation Thread in LAN Discussion

Hey, I'm looking to attend ESU Community Rumble in Sweden. But I am a Student so I'm trying to save as much money as reasonably possible. So I was wondering if there were a few people looking for accommodation that would be willing to share a room in a Hotel or a House maybe to save some extra bucks.

If you are interested, add me on Steam and we can go from there.
