#157 Dear TF2 Community in TF2 General Discussion
enigmaArxI'm venting because TF.TV decided to take a different approach instead of cooperating for the good of the game...is there are a particular aspect of our coverage that you believe wouldn't be the best for the community?

do you believe TFTV as a brand is weaker than VTV?

do you believe Lange/Skyride/Comedian wouldn't have done an incredible job on the technical/production side?

are Sal/Admirable/Greg/yuki + a host of other articulate prem players (who will all been there in person) not good enough of casters?

in what sense, objectively, would this outcome not have been the best for the community?

(read bold for tl;dr)

In all honesty Arx, this needs to be addressed. I loved VTV's coverage of i46, and I actually watched a lot of VTV when I was first getting interested in 6v6. That being said, don't pull out this "us fighting for coverage is hurting TF2" bullshit when in reality VTV is the only thing splitting the community. Look at statistics for streams, page views, whatever. It's blatantly obvious that the community has chosen to make TF.TV their hub for competitive TF2. And why shouldn't they? TF.TV offers great NA an EU coverage, while VTV offers only EU coverage.

You can argue about who has better casters/streams/whatever until you're blue in the face, but the fact of the matter is Teamfortress.tv has become the central hub for competitive TF2. Hell, TF.TV still links to VTV streams/articles, and that's a one way street. On TF.TV it shows your "VanillaTV wants you" article, and shows about 10 streams online (mostly NA, some euros including Byte). On VTV there is no NA section. It shows 2 streams up right now (the 2 EU ones). TF.TV is trying to promote all TF2. VTV seems to be promoting their TF2.

I love both you and Beta when you guys cast. In fact, you two are one of my favorite casting duos (behind only DJCbear). But to be honest, I really hope you guys see the light and jump ship. TF.TV is growing steadily, and VTV has been treading water ever since TF.TV's EU coverage has gotten serious. The only thing that's holding back TF2 at this point (if you can call it that) is the fact that VTV is struggling to keep people from switching to TF.TV's streams. You realize that without VTV's stream during EU Prem matches, TF.TV's streams would likely have gotten 2000 viewers, right? You want to help TF2? Let TF.TV cover i46, like 90% of this community seems to want.

#189 how do you think australia will do at i49 in TF2 General Discussion

Do we know what the map pool will be yet? Are we actually going to see the Euros face banny on on viaduct?

#50 ESEA map poll for s14 in TF2 General Discussion
conductorthe fact that gpit results can be readily discarded while predicting the result of literally any other map in the rotation combined with being readily identifiable as an "upset map" are probably signs that it isn't actually good despite being arguably fun to watch.

I take it you weren't big in watching March Madness?

Just because a map seemingly gives "lower" teams a chance to upset better teams doesn't mean it is fundamentally flawed. There are a lot of "good" arguments against Gpit, but this is not one of them.

#19 cbear in TF2 General Discussion

The amount of charisma Cbear brings to casting will really be missed. It was actually him and Sal that got me into comp tf2 a long time ago because they seemed so invested in the game that it just had to be that much fun to play. If you do decide to leave cbear, you will be sorely missed. Same with you, djc.
Cheers.

That was absolutely amazing. Really well done.

My only gripe is it seemed a little unrealistic at one part. At 4:24 it said "game crash". Valve games don't do that.

#262 UGC Admin TF2_Moose VAC Banned in TF2 General Discussion
m4risaIf I was VAC banned, I would have probably been suspended for multiple seasons and my team would have been disqualified from playoffs.

Great league.

Actually, this part is interesting. UGC has made it seem that using a hacker means your entire team gets punished. Will they do that in this case? Should that happen if the rest of +fwd didn't know? (seems kind of stupid to punish a team for one person imo, but it seems to be the typical thing to do in leagues these days). This is going to have MAJOR implications for how UGC deals with hackers down the line...I really hope they tread carefully.

Cro0Ked_i wasn't a huge fan of the music choice and the video was a little dark at parts, but otherwise pretty good!

This. It was a good looking video and the music was nicely synced. But as someone who's colorblind, the color correction made it so there were several moments where I had absolutely no idea what was going on/who died.
