flatlineCherry, have you ever given thought to a tf2 betting subreddit? It'd be a good place to discuss all the matches on the site without clogging up tftv or the r/saloontf subreddit (sort of like what r/csgobetting does, you could even do some sort of sponsorship/association with them).
edit: you should also setup tbd vs tbd bets so people actually have time to bet on games that don't take long to start (we barely had like 10 minutes to bet on elevate vs madmen)
There's r/saloontf and r/TF2BettingAdvice, though the two are being merged.
And yeah, I wanted to do that for ESEA, but as it turned out it'd require a little bit more restructuring to have it prepared and tested in time.

VaskieI feel that at this point Valve has to take a look in the mirror and see what they have become. They have far too much in their plate. For a service that has millions of users, there is still no reliable Customer Service, if you ever have an issue, you send a support ticket and wait up to a month for a response that might not even be the desired one.
Valve has delved in to far too many projects, Steam Home Streaming, Steam Music, Steam Workshop. Unfortunately they don't seem ready as a company to take on the responsabilities of opening so many services. At this point Valve has become the number 1 service for gaming on PC, so people have expectations to similar services such as Google Play, iTunes and so on.
For example, EA as a company is pretty despicable but at least they have a 24 refund window for any game you buy, no matter how many hours you play, as long as you ask for the refund within the first 24 hours of buying it.
Edit: Let's not even talk that the above applies to TF2, Valve has gotten their hands so full, they don't even know what to do with TF2
It does sometimes feel that 200 people is not enough.

MaxillawsI think others can add people who don't have the features, they just can't add others.
For saloon.tf 2ould using trade offers work or does the bot have to be on the friends list to be able to send the offer/trade?
It needs access to the API which was also put behind a paywall. Previously any paid game was enough :/

VaskieOn one hand it's a decent solution for a massive problem that Steam has had for a long long time, but on the other hand, projects like Saloon.tf take a hit. ETF2L and other leagues might also have a problem as new players will struggle to add opponents/admins and so on.
I can't think of a different solution that Valve could had gone with though..
I'd just throttle adding friends depending on the account's level. Seems like a much less extreme solution that doesn't affect normal users.

Theres a lot of slots so please let's get to at least 400 each to show that people care about ESEA 6v6 the same or more as UGC highlander :P
Might be a good time to do a reddit post since there's actually enough slots to handle the traffic you'll get from r/tf2trade or r/truetf2? Just an idea.

Edit: if you're saying that only the "honest losers" get awarded, how is that fair at all? Only they get the privileges of extra items to bet? The honest winners didn't get their winnings, why not give them the rank too?
There's no way too tell who was an honest winner and who was a dishonest loser which is one thing. The other thing is that you didn't miss much as this perk is only a little token to gratitude and should be treated as such.
I understand that everyone else was honest too, winners alongside with those who bet on different matches, but as brooky pointed out noone else had an incentive to act in a different way or possibility to abuse a said bug. It rewards honesty being put over avarice, something I just wanted to appreciate, but as it turns out everything is political even if you do something for free, you cannot act as you wish without upsetting anyone :s

slicrickgamingI've been unable to bet for the past few days, as it won't load my inventory. I have my privacy settings all on public, and other websites seem to be able to access my backpack just fine.
