blackout"This match has been nullified due to a bug which allowed users to switch bets after a game has started. Users on the right have been awarded for their honesty with unique rank and ability to bet 6 items."
I'm confused as to how this works. I don't appear to have the rank or the ability to bet 6 items, but I sure didn't switch teams after the match was over. What defines "honesty" then?
Everyone whose bet is on the right side has been awarded.
slicrickgamingI've been unable to bet for the past few days, as it won't load my inventory. I have my privacy settings all on public, and other websites seem to be able to access my backpack just fine.
Fixed by itself. We'll never know what was the reason :D
Teapot_For future purposes maybe, especially when the site is out of beta. But I doubt my bet was of any significance since the odds had already shifted by ~10%(hence expecting it to be nullified).
Not any single bet was of significance, but they all together were :P That's a classic snowball effect.
dashnerTo be fair to cherry, the terms of service are pretty clear: https://saloon.tf/tos/
Misuse of the Saloon.tf service is not permitted. Interfering with the Saloon.tf service or other services that the Saloon.tf service makes use of is forbidden. Accessing the Saloon.tf service using a method other than the Interface and Instructions we provide is a breach of these ToS. We may suspend or stop providing our service to you if you do not comply with our terms or policies or if we are investigating suspected misconduct without reimbursement of potentially lost items.
So it's not like there are no posted rules. However, I think this should only be enforced towards people directly trying to cheat the system. In this scenario, Cherry's site breaking is the reason people were able to do this so it isn't remotely comparable.
This adheres to any misuse. I'm sure those people knew what they were doing was wrong, and if it was something less irreversible like bot spitting out items to random people I'm pretty sure there would be no room for doubt.
They got lucky this time though as there is not enough sufficient evidence to take any action, so I'll let this pass.
I don't want them using my website though or having anything to do with it or me, but they are free to do whatever they want. Just remember that it doesn't matter if you have a button to change your bet or have to dig somewhere deep to abuse a bug it's still a bannable offense and it being easier to take advantage of changes nothing. The only factor I take into consideration is potential damage.
It's my fault for introducing this bug, and I'm very sorry for anyone who bet on the winning team and didn't win anything as a result of that, fault is equally on the abusers side as it is on mine, though I'd like to emphasize that my intentions are always good.
aidelosSo you want to punish people for trying out the site/looking for bugs while the site is in a BETA phase?
Not those who reported of course.
And no matter what I do with them there's still no reason to nullify bets as those actions can be undone :o
EDIT: And btw. Amazon is required by law to honor those prices at least in the European Union otherwise it could be accused of trying to manipulate clients to pay more. Same applies to the retail, the price on a shelf is the one you'll pay and there is no way you can be denied buying product for that price.
dashnerIsoCHERRYI keep track of bet updates and everyone who modified their bet after the match started can expect to have their action undone and be permanently banned from the website.Going to play devil's advocate here.
This is the fault of the site, not the users. They didn't hack or use the site maliciously, they used an option that was mistakenly made available to them.
Occasionally sites like Amazon accidentally prices items at much lower than they should be, and people buy them because of it being a good deal. Amazon still has to take the loss and honor this agreement to keep their reputation as a reliable service.
If anything, bets from the match should just be nulled and the items returned.
Yeah, this is really ridiculous. Saloon.tf is going to be so important for this scene's growth, don't start alienating potential users because your site had a bug.
Temp ban maybe. Nullify the bets. End of story.
There's not a lot of them so I'd say "alienating" them will not affect neither development of the scene as a whole or Saloon.tf in general. Those users are malicious and put their personal profit over playing fair. Next time DDoSers getting excused since Steam allows you to see IP of any friend and it's it's fault not the ones who take an advantage? :o

The website's fault was allowing users to switch bets. Taking advantage of it to try and take winnings from other players falls too closely to fraud to just be ignored.

Maybe a temp ban? I didn't change mine or anything (mts from the start) but people are still figuring things out and may not have even realized it was an exploitable bug if they were a first timer on the site, also people have a tendency to push buttons given the opportunity.
Well of course suddenly everyone wanted to try things out when odds were quite steady for the past few days :P
There is no space for tolerance when things of value are involved, but I'll gladly listen what they have to say before making a final verdict. (Other than switching bets to the losing side which stays no matter what.)

There is 0 tolerance for trying to take advantage of website'się bugs to gain profit and/or advantage over other users and everyone should be aware of it.
brooky12Is this going to become a common thing?
For matches with a clear underdog yes.
https://saloon.tf/match/338/
brooky12So if eLv take a single map saloon.tf will consider eLv the winners?
Exactly

First match with a spread!
Also a preferred bot for this game is one of the newcomers, works as well as the old ones!
PS. A friendly reminder that betting on any outcome of your own match might get you a one year long ban in ESEA league and is prohibited by us as of today.
Bought some expanders with some of leftovers and will add 5 new bots before ESEA LAN.
1750 slots each which means that we'll have 26750 slots for items!
