After discovering some further info, I have a little suggestion if there is a next year - try giving less points for frags and general appreciation and more for edit instead. Mainly because the frags themselves are not something that the editor puts a lot of effort in, and while a good choice of frags is important, it is certainly less important than the edit itself. As for general appreciation, I understand that the judge should have the right to put some subjectivity into the rating, but again, it shouldnt have as much weight as the edit itself. Take it as a suggestion, in my opinion it might help avoid these kinds of situations. Anyway, sorry for ranting so much, I am just disappointed to see hakka and Googler put so much effort in such a well done entry like Genesis and not get recognized for it.

KanecoAlmie-snip-
Now you really rustled my jimmies, am I not an (at least somewhat decent) editor?

Also its really pointless to argue with the results if you don't for which aspects each movie was graded. Fun fact: My note was the highest by far between all judges for Googler's movie. And while I don't agree with the rankings necessarily, and my top3 was different, I'm just a member of the judge panel, and it's a group decision so my opinion has as much leverage as any of the other judges.

Now throwing a tantrum over this and blaming the judges and saying no one is gonna enter next year is certainly not the best solution. Afaik tf2c is one of the few organizations that still supports moviemakers in the scene so just be mature and don't act like a spoiled kid.

You werent listed as an editor though lol, sorry :P And I didnt make up the thing about nobody entering next year. Ever wondered where w3stracer is? He is still active, he just left the tf2 community, guess for what reason. He is not alone. And there are many editing contests with bigger prize pools where all games including tf2 are welcome, so no, tf2c isnt one of the few organizations supporting moviemakers in the scene.

"you don't for which aspects each movie was graded" - i really dont, and im actually kind of interested in it, mind enlighting me?

Haha ok, when it happens twice in a row, it's not funny anymore. With all due respect to Tooni, while his movie was enjoyable, he did make some beginner mistakes - plus there were quite a few better entries in the contest.

Now, if there is another contest next year, I would recommend having more than 1 moviemaker in the judges, in fact, the judges should ONLY be moviemakers, or it ends up like this. Then again, who knows how many entries you will get next year, since many editors probably won't feel like entering...

w/e #rantover, congrats to salade au thon and grid

Gunbladegod i hate this normal speed to slow speed shit that people edit in frag videos.

"god i hate one of the most basic things an editor can do"
I guess just watch fragshows then. Dont forget to call it overedited as well.

Anyway, on topic of the actual video, this was certainly an interesting watch, I love it when people try something different editing-wise. However, I feel that the frags didnt transition very well, I think that if you cut from a slow-motion end of a frag to a full speed beginning of the next frag, like you often did, the sort of sudden change of the camera speed breaks up the flow. Then again, some other frags transitioned well thanks to the smooths, which were quite good here. Overall the style reminds me of Jay a bit, good job.

#16 ~ cadence ~ a jump movie in Videos
YosephThis edit is called "~ cadence ~" because it brings to my mind the rhythmic flow and pattern of jumping. The smooth glide, descent, ascent and constant strive for perfection. It's these elements I have tried to incorporate in my jump video, starting with a basic introduction of simple jumps leading up to a crescendo when all the elements I have shown combine into something (hopefully) wonderful.

Thats a really interesting way of thinking about it.
