It is totally possible by overriding materials. It didnt work with the sv_pure being enforced problem, but since that is now fixed it works again. My recording tool even has a checkbox for that (Disable Übercharge Overlay) but it is quite old and I havent updated it in a while, and Im not sure what the other tools have, but its fairly possible they also have a thing for that.
You discovered a bug and it got fixed literally a few hours later. I envy you.

Well, in other editing contests, the rules usually say that all entries have to be made specifically for the contest, not older videos re-uploaded, here the rules dont say that, so its questionable... I also think that it doesnt seem very fair, but if the rules didnt prohibit that in the first place, Im not sure if not allowing him to participate would be fair. I guess its up to TF2C...
Yeah, just use prec_mode 3 and bookmark, you can also prec_delete_useless_demo 1 and then it will delete any demos where you didnt bookmark anything so that it doesnt clog up your harddrive.

Every great production you've seen in TF2? Tip of the Hats? This fragumentary? All the neat graphics we've played at extv? This guy has been behind the audio for it. He pulled a 36 hour all nighter to get the audio for this documentary done on time. He's the invisible guy behind the scenes that nobody ever really recognizes except the people who have the privilege to work with him but he has helped this scene in so many ways. And he does it all for free.
It's been such a great experience working on projects with him at extv, a consummate professional, and the audio work on this project is his best yet. I feel like someone finally needed to give him that recognition.

dellortDo you actually play TF2? It sounds like you don't even enjoy any video where the frags are the focus.
I do, for example I could watch ShadowBurns fragclips for hours. I just dont like mediocre frags being glorified, only because theyre against high division players. Or videos where frags are supposed to be the focus but I cant stop thinking about how terrible the editing is. Or videos with ok frags and editing that last 10 minutes with the same kind of frags repeating, it gets old.

How are any of them boring? I'm actually curious. They are some of the absolute best videos ever made. This isn't really even coming from me as an opinion. All of those videos are done brilliantly.
In most cases its the absolutely terrible editing (and mainly colour correction, eugh) that bothers me, sometimes overused music, sometimes the lack of editing, sometimes mediocre frags (also that one 4:3 video, wtf?). Now, a good bit of these videos are still entertaining, but only for about 3-5 minutes, then it gets really boring. The exceptions are PREM by CUBE and The Experiment highlights, but then again, even though those videos are well done and entertaining I wouldnt dare to call them the best of all time.

Snowdreamikpuregoogler is good when it comes to knowledge of effects but that is really about it."knowledge of effects"? he has better flow, smooths, creativity and even sound editing than most tf2 editors on youtube
Tbh Googlers smooths are quite uninspired and bad, they flow well, but its getting boring, kinda like his edits lately, imo he peaked at Segway 3 and then its gone downhill. If youre looking for best smooths look at ikay himself, he has an eye for those.

As for Jays video, I agree that some of the effects were quite unfitting, what I like about your style the most is your velocity, its something new and good, but you need to perfect it still, because the slow parts sometimes last too long. The goose was a bit random but im okay with it, plus the idea was very original, so yeah. Good luck with future edits.

The general rule of thumb is, if its just a clip dump, you should post it in the frag clip thread. If its an edit or a movie, or something you put actual effort in, then feel free to make your own thread. Your fragshow was alright, it just shouldve been posted in the frag clip thread, is all.
