hi
The song that I want to use for my fragvideo is completely blocked on youtube. Not just in a couple of countries, but in all of them.

I'm always very picky about my songs for fragvideo's. I felt like this song I found had everything I needed. Because of that I really don't want to choose anything else. I've even tried putting this song in Logic and playing my own midi tracks over it in an attempt to make it unrecognizable for the youtube algorithm, but that didn't work.
Youtube and UMG both gave me confusing walls of text to explain why it's blocked and suggested I should get permission to use this song. Neither company explained how to do that and looking this up didn't really help me any further.

Does anyone here know the easiest way to be still able to use it? (or can explain how I can gain that permission?)
Cheers

Not your song, so you really don't have any rights to it. Thats how copyright works. The artist/label has the ability to say they don't want other people using their stuff. Your best option is to upload it somewhere else or pick another song. If they're a small enough artist you can try contacting them for permission, otherwise you're out of luck.

Thanks for the reply. I know how copyright works, but I'm not using their song to gain anything out of, nor does my video have anything to do with the song itself. It's only playing in the background.
If I know who to contact and tell them this I may receive permission, but I've got no clue. Of course there's the composer (he's not thát small sadly), then there's the publisher or label, but also the company that owns the label. There's like nothing I can find on how or who to contact.
I was wondering if there's other ways instead of going through this mess.

Been down this road, you're pretty much screwed unfortunately as if that's the owner's policy it applies to everyone and that's it.

when choosing a song in the future, make sure it is allowed by searching here: https://www.youtube.com/music_policies?nv=1
