I enjoyed watching.

What a coincidence that all the shitty open players can't help but hate on another game.

Anyone hating on this, seriously, open your mind a little. If the game has such a "low skill cap" you should go enter the next tournament and win $400k.

this has nothing to do with tf2. we're expressing our opinions and who would want to get money and exposure to a garbage game like this anyway? i'd rather help out the tf2 scene than join this.

What exactly makes the game so bad? The fact that every PC FPS player likes to jump on the bandwagon and assume so? To be frank nobody in this thread has made any good arguments other than what seems to be "I don't like it and I won't play it"

I'm sure if you sat down and played a pug or a scrim you'd probably have a good time

do they even have pugs or scrims LOL i think they just practice their quickscopes and dolphin dives. no strat talks. nothing. It's not that the game is bad it's just their competitive scene is much more dumbed down compared to other games. Theres not much to the game when it comes down to strategy. it's like trying to make a competitive sport out of a game of catch.

Anyone hating on this, seriously, open your mind a little. If the game has such a "low skill cap" you should go enter the next tournament and win $400k.

Some of the reasons why i wouldn't personally enter a call of duty tournament is because it is a game i no longer enjoy, i barely even enjoyed it when i owned COD:MW2 and COD:BLOPS. Why would i subject myself to something i don't find pleasure in playing? Secondly to get into these tournaments it is very time consuming and as a college student time is valuable to me, i would never take a gamble such as a world wide tournament. Its just illogical thinking.

As far as low skill cap goes http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/03/13/call-of-duty-red-orchestra-2-interview/
this article explains it far better than i could. I'm sure the game is fun for many but it is just not the game for me n__n

Of course there are scrims and pickups dude. Its pretty obvious you have no idea what you're talking about.
How is there not much to the game and how is it dumbed down? Please explain. Its essentially CS without the money system when it comes to S&D, and there are plenty of other game modes.

Also to the dude that posted the article; I don't think you can make a statement about the competitive scene based on an article written about pubs ...regardless of the merit of the article. It is pretty fucking awful (my opinion) and seems to be based on players who like one game saying they don't like another. Maybe the company in question, tripwire, should make games that are more fun. Then they wouldn't have to complain about people not liking them.

I've watched both CoD and Battlefield scrims.

Battlefield is so much more team oriented relative to CoD it's not even funny. And you think coordinating HL is bad? Battlefield is up to 16 per team.

I mean, if there wasn't aim assist and non-existent recoil, it's pretty much CS on a console.

Derpusif tf2 is played competitively then why can't cod be??

Obviously no one is stopping competitive call of duty since they just streamed a 400k world wide tournament. No one stated that there shouldn't be competitive call of duty, most just said that it was a pretty terrible competitive scene.

Playing PC Call of Duty 4 Search and Destroy on a team was pretty fun, there was a lot of strategic depth around positioning and coordination. Awareness of your surroundings and predicting your enemy's movements played a big part, since if you get the first shot you'll usually win the 1v1. That said, I don't see how people play FPS' that rely on aim on the console, a mouse and keyboard gives such a bigger freedom of motion.

AFAIK, pretty much all modern console FPS games have aim assist. I've never seen an option to turn it off either.

it's not that call of duty is played competitively, it's that it is as popular as it is while other games (like tf2 and to some extent dota and csgo) don't get nearly as many viewers.

it can. it's just that $400,000 and 100k+ viewers in a stream seems a bit overkill when it comes down to the value and quality of each scene..

The reason the cod series is so popular is mainly because anyone including 12 year olds can be extremely good at it due to the low skill involved in playing it. Think about it, most people who play tf2 are much older because it is generally a difficult game to get good at and young minds are just not suitable for this type of game. I guarantee most of the viewers on the cod stream are >14 years old

That's just a bad argument. It's a different interface; a PC gamer could say console games are easy because all they have to do is move a stick in that direction.

because it looks like a nintendo game, and it's just not worth it.
do you think tf2 could earn more money? no.
it's not even worth a try.

I'm really struggling to understand why a small bit of aim assist is detrimental to a game where you are using a peripheral inferior to a keyboard/mouse

I think it's just the term "aim assist" itself. People should be able to aim without any assist at all if it's a competitive game with some sort of "skill" or something.

It's because of how popular call of duty is as a franchise. I'd like to say the most skill based games would end up being the most popular and offer the highest prize pools for tournaments, but skill ceiling has little to do with how much sponsors are willing to put into games. As long as your game is popular and people will watch it, people will put money into it.
