KnolyyyyyyyyyWhat is the cheapest possible 144hz@1080p build for TF2?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xDhLgw

Keep in mind i am not at all suggesting this build. You asked for the cheapest new build and i gave you the cheapest.
The minimum i would suggest spending is $400

Saving for something like this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BgKQsZ would be your best bet and would let you play things other than TF2 at good frame rates. You can get a used rx 580 8gb on ebay for the same price as the new 4gb RX 570
shown in this build.

Is it worth it compared to 60hz?

Absolutely

Why is the recommended RAM so expensive?
Edit: It's 210e in EU, 80$ in usa
Edit 2: I'll be ordering from amazon.de, could you please recommend some parts (cheapest possible for 1080p 144hz) with that in mind?

This is the cheapest i would suggest. You CAN go cheaper but it would be subject to SEVERELY diminishing returns.
I would suggest getting the graphics card on ebay. Polaris GPUs are being dumped extremely cheaply due to the mining bubble popping.

Case is fairly arbitrary.
Not sure what your budget is.
RAM is on the QVL so it should work.

EDIT: Well now you've got both builds, cheap and not so cheap.

Hey, building a new pc in a month or so and am looking for recommendations. Budget around 1000€ need everything except storage and case cause I will resuse those from my current pc unless theres a reason to not do that(2x 850 evo 250GB + barracuda 1TB / CM N300). PC will be used for everything and games will be the most demanding thing. Atm I mostly play Apex Legends and OW and some singleplayer games here and there.

Wait for computex if your PC is already decent.

SetsulWhat's the goal besides spending 1000€?

Changing my soon to be over 4yr old pc to one that will run newer/upcoming games at playable framerates. Because my current one struggles with anything but lowest settings in newer games or sometimes even the lowest settings don't help.

EDIT: Got home now so can post my current pc
CPU: Intel Core i5-4460
Motherboard: ASRock H81M-VG4 R2
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3072MB

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3.5'' 1TB

Yeah but what FPS do you wanna get in these games, 60, 120, 240, or more?

What games do you also mean, generally, you say newer games at playable framerates, but that is 60fps to most people. The difference between getting 60 at low settings in a game or 60 at ultra will be two completely different computer specs.

_KermitYeah but what FPS do you wanna get in these games, 60, 120, 240, or more?

I know I'm here for recommendations but this question for me personally seems a bit counter-intuitive. I mean if I wouldn't have a set budget then I could say that I want X fps in Y game so how much would a pc that can do that would cost. But since I have a set budget I feel its more like that I want the most fps within that budget. If I'm thinking about it wrong then correct me but its how I see the situation atm at least.

Yeah but the most fps in what?
The most fps in everything? That's not possible. CPU/GPU balance is different for different games. It's even different depending on resolution and settings. So is 120 fps in game A and 70 fps in game B better than 100 in both? I don't know.
The absolute most fps with a given budget also requires cutting corners on everything not directly affecting performance. So do I pick a garbage tier PSU just so you can get 70 fps instead of 65 in game C?

If the goal is to just pick faster components than you've currently got for 1000€ then you don't need help. i5-4570 and R9 290 are guaranteed to be faster and anything better than that obviously as well. So pick any CPU and GPU faster than that and you've got a build. Will it be a good build? Maybe. Will it be a good build for you? I don't know, because I can't tell if build A or B is better for you unless one of them gets more fps in every single game on all possible settings and resolutions because I don't know which games are more important than others and at which point (60/120/240 fps on X settings) improving fps in one game is not important anymore.

SetsulYeah but the most fps in what?

There was this in my first message "I mostly play Apex Legends and OW" so it would be safe to assume that I'm talking about fps in those or no? And I wrote some singleplayer games cause I jump from one to another when I feel like it so can't really say which ones I'll play in a month or two.

The work absolute wasn't used, but I used most fps knowing that you or others here would recommend good parts cause I've seen you/others multiple times criticizing people and suggesting something else when they chose garbage tier parts themselves.

Right now the goal is
-at resolution ? and settings ?
-the most fps, but not the absolute most fps in OW and Apex Legends, no preference given as to which one is more important
-playable fps which are ? fps in singe player games ?, ?, and ?

Can I make a build that meets those requirements? I don't know.

The GPU is just a stand-in for the upcoming GTX 1660Ti, also you can check if you want to reuse your case. Or if you keep your PC under your desk and don't care about noise you can save a little money, get the Silverstone RL06 case or the upcoming RL08 instead and drop the extra fan. PCP doesn't have it priced, but you can get the Corsair TXM series PSU for cheaper.

Most fps in OW/Apex yes and at the same time I'd assume with build within that budget I'd get good fps in newer/upcoming game so that kinda solves itself but I just mentioned it as my goal cause I also include Apex as a newer game.
Resoliution would be 1080p atm tho I'm considering buying another monitor that would replace my current one and using my current one as 2nd one by end of spring but not sure if I should go for 1440p or no. About the settings and fps don't know how to word it properly but I don't care about exact fps really I'll just get what I can with a pc within that budget and I'm fine with it. If I can play the game on ultra and get good fps I'll play it if I can't, I'll play on high or even medium.
Well I don't know if there is a big difference between what benefits these 2 games from hardware perspective so I didn't mention it. But I guess Apex would be the preference at the moment.
I guess I answered about playeable fps above and as I mentioned before I don't really plan what singleplayer games I'll play if I see a game and I like it I'll try it. The only 2 games I'd say I have planned atm are newest Far Cry and Subnautica below zero after that who knows.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm most likely reusing my current case.

[quote=Setsul]So do you want the most fps in OW/Apex Legends or newer/upcoming games?

Right now the goal is
-at resolution ? and settings ?
-the most fps, but not the absolute most fps in OW and Apex Legends, no preference given as to which one is more important
-playable fps which are ? fps in singe player games ?, ?, and ?

Now we're getting somewhere. What would qualify as good/playable fps? 60?

Just1sBecause my current one struggles with anything but lowest settings in newer games or sometimes even the lowest settings don't help.

Name at least one game as an example and then we can go from there.
E.g. 60 fps, 1080p, medium in game X would a proper goal. Below Zero is still Early Access and generally a weird engine so I don't really want to bench that.
Newst Far Cry as in New Dawn, released 3 days ago or Far Cry 5?

Min of 60. Like with my current pc I played subnautica with around that fps but it would quite often drop to 20-30 in more intense areas so I'd consider that not really playable.
Yeah New Dawn, haven't really checked benchmarks but would assume that getting X fps in New dawn I would get at least the same in 5.
As example lets say min fps of 60, 1080p, high in FC New Dawn

any suggestions for upgrading my cpu?
ive been running a i3-6100 and a rx470 for a few years now, unfortunate that i built my pc before the new ryzen stuff was announced otherwise id def have gone the AMD route.

i mainly want more frames in tf2, i can stream pretty ok but my fps dips far too much considering the configs i have installed

i play on 1920x1080 120hz monitor if thats relevant and am looking to do dual monitors soonish

Mobo?
If the fps are fine when not streaming you just need more cores.
i7-6700/7700, maybe i5-6600/7600 should work.
If you want significantly more frames in general you'd have to oc and if your mobo does not support that it'll get a bit more expensive.

Would it be possible to get a TF2 120 fps mobo-processor-ram combo with 533.59 USD?

I have 2000 BRL which google tells me is 533.59 USD to upgrade my PC, I plan on reusing my PSU(650W), GPU and case. My current GPU is a Nvidia 1060 6GB.

I live close to Paraguay so I'm buying the pieces there(probably here, but I can look around).

Besides TF2, I'm currently enjoying Apex Legends, getting my fps to stay always above 120 fps in that game would also be cool but I'm afraid that's not possible without a better GPU(?). On both games, I plan to play at the lowest settings possible, but always on 1080p.

Thanks for any suggestions :)

Ok, 3 options:
Z370 + 8350K + cooler + overclocking, which is extremely tight on that budget.
B350 + 2500X (not available so 1500X, which is a bummer) + maybe cooler + overclocking.
B360 + 8100/8300.
The 1500X variant needs faster RAM and overclocking to end up with about the same speed as the 8100/8300 and the 8350K option is quite expensive. All 3 are enough for 120 fps so I'd go with the 8100/8300.

There's different colours for the same price, pick whatever you want.
Total:
i3-8100:
1079,96 R$ with 8 GB RAM
1288,52 R$ with 16 GB RAM
i3-8300: 1183,84 R$ / 1392,40 R$ with 8 / 16 GB

8 GB should be completely fine though. If you want to upgrade later the mobo got 4 slots so you can just add another 2x4 GB.

There aren't any good benchmarks for Apex Legends on low yet but the 1060 is definitely not enough for 120 fps.
Even the 8100 is good enough for 120 fps on high so I'd suggest going with the cheapest option (8100 + 8GB) so you can get a new GPU sooner if you really want one. It's a shame because the 1060 isn't that old and Apex Legends just scales badly. From what I've seen the 1060 gets 80, maybe 90 fps on the lowest settings and still 55-60 on the highest.

hi gamers
my good pal teardrop is looking to get a new pc but he doesn't know how to build one so he decided he'd get a prebuilt (i told him its ez but he doesn't believe me xd)
he's in canada and his budget is 1400-1500 CAD, mainly plays jump maps and tf2 shit but also wants to be able to play other games (apex & whatnot) with good fps, he also wants to start streaming but i assume most good pc's these days can do that fine

i know nothing about pc parts these days but if i remember correctly people used to say that AMD processors were worse than intel for tf2 stuff cause single core is better, has that changed?

he was looking at this but im sure theres other options out there https://store.hp.com/CanadaStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=3LB27AA&opt=ABL&mastersku=3LB27AA&masteropt=ABL&sel=DTP&;

Hi,
My 4+ y.o. laptop had smoke coming out of it yesterday, so I figured it might be time for me to invest in an actual computer. However, I'm not very knowledgeable on hardware, so I'm looking for help picking components.
My budget is around 900€, though I'm open to spend a bit more if its worth it. I mainly play TF2, and other shooters, but nothing particularly intense graphically. I already own a monitor (VG248QE), and every other peripherals (mouse, keyboard, mousepad).
If anyone is versed enough to give me directions in order to get the best worth of my money it would be greatly appreciated :)
